Gran Turismo 5

>Not a single Firebird

Fuck this game.
They could include 99 billion Skylines and Evos, but not even get in at least the Smokey and the Bandit car?

I wonder how many actual people will kill themselves if it gets delayed again!

I'm debating changing my pre-order from Amazon to GameStop (if my local GameStop has a midnight release party).

The reason for this? I'm flying home on the 24th at 7am, so I won't be able to get my mail (aka GT5) until the 29th. If I can get it at midnight, that gives me a good 5 hours of playing until I have to get to the airport (I'm not planning on going to sleep anyways to not risk missing my bus to the airport).

That McLaren clears that discussion about skidmarks, doesn?t it?

Why do people who make preview videos insist on driving in the chase-cam view? Even if there weren't cockpits in the standard cars, I still prefer a bumper view or a roof view.

When playing, yes, but the chase cam does show off the graphics a lot better. I used to use the chase cam just so I could enjoy looking at the car I'm driving but eventually being able to actually drive it well won me over.

I always preferred the chase cam myself. Bumper/cockpit cams never had enough peripheral vision to be realistic. And since my TV's were always on the small side, the tiny rear view mirror was completely useless. At least with the chase cam I can see who's beside me. Although when I'm racing alone on the track, with no traffic to worry about, I do prefer bumper cam.

On a side note, I can't wait to buy a PS3 and GT5 now. Just need to buy a TV...

I have a feeling that while the cockpit cam will cool, but really hard to use/get used to for racing. I feel like its going to be impossible to tell how long your hood is and where the edges of the car are. It is a flat image after all, no matter how good the graphics are.

I usually use the 3rd person chase cam, and occasionally switch to the bumper cam in GT4, and I'll probably do the same in GT5.

The majority of sim racers out there use cockpit view. It does take a little getting used to, but if you have a wheel with a D-pad, you can map that to head movement. There's also Playstation Move support, which could possibly support head tracking?
I wonder if there's a simulated cockpit view in the standard cars?

Behold standard models.

Much better.

Honestly, why are the standard cars even in this game? Almost no one is going to use them I bet.

That Merc actually looks quite good!

There was a fun challenge in GT4 with the mm-R cup car, racing it against much more powerful road cars like the NSX-R. You had to outbreak and outcorner them because you sure as hell weren't faster. As for the rest of the standard cars, If they are on the used market I know I'll be using them, I'm a cheapskate

They're probably there to just fill up the used car market. I doubt you can buy many of them brand new.

Those C63 pics =

I'm not sure there is any Move support? I haven't heard of it... However head tracking is supported through the PS Eye (which Move also uses).

There is no simulated cockpit view for standard cars. They have bumper-, roof- and chase-cam.

In GT4 I almost exclusively used chase cam. I'm not sure which view I'll use this time. I can use head-tracking (got the PS eye) but it's only supported in cockpit view which only the premiums have.
