Go away....look at something else...
Yeah.. Sony has confirmed it.

Engadget said:
Yes, Sony is, in fact, working on a film version of its long-running simulation racing video game series Gran Turismo. A Sony Computer Entertainment UK rep told our sister site Joystiq that said film is "being made," but provided no other information.

Yesterday, reports surfaced of the film being tied to Mike de Luca and Dana Brunetti (of The Social Network and 50 Shades of Grey production fame), with support from a trio of Sony Pictures execs. Of course, none of this sounds too far-fetched given the presence of Sony Pictures president Michael Lynton at the PlayStation E3 press conference. He promised Sony Pictures' support to the PlayStation 4 in the form of original programming, and a movie based on a massive PlayStation franchise sounds like a good start. For now, however, few details are confirmed beyond the project's existence.

Apparently the film is said to be Sony's attempt to compete with "fast car franchises" such as Universal's Fast & Furious, Legendary's Hot Wheels, and DreamWorks' Need for Speed.

Not sure what to think of this.

And will sound like a fleet of vacuum cleaners.

And no cars will flip or get damaged until the fifth installment.

At least it will have some cool rare cars, eh? ;) Hopefully a lot more cars that didn't get more silver screen glory before.

Still couldn't imagine what the plot will be like though...

Yes. The first 2 hours of the movie will be near identical low resolution Japanese shitboxes.

At least the protagonist could choose his first car wisely and go for a 1JZ Supra to go against Honda Beat and Midgets. :p

The first 3 hours will just be license tests.

It will be a movie about what it is like to own 1000 cars, and doing oil changes for all of them.

But seriously, who at Sony actually thinks its a good idea to make a movie out of a plot-less, character-less video game? Where could they possibly be going? Unless they make some sort of amateur racing documentary and slap the GT name onto it.

Well since they are working with a clean slate, they might be able create something good rather than being pinned down with a game plot. But then again they could totally balls it up. I just hope its something that deserves the GT name.

Well a documentary could be fun :p but it won't be that because they are apparently making this to compete with F&F and NFS. Speaking of NFS they certainly are making something that deserves the NFS name.

"Need for Speed is definitely accurate and authentic to real car racing culture" Yes because real car racing culture involves flipping McLaren P1s with Sesto Elementos. <_<

 at the Saleen S7 ramp rig.

Disney pulled it off to make 4 movies about a fucking rollecoaster.

Soon to be 5 actually.

But at least there were a ton of characters around the rollercoaster track that they could work with. IIRC the only people in GT are the drivers, the guys standing around with clipboards after license tests, the guy that changes your oil, and the guys that wash the cars. Not really an exciting group of people to work with. Oh, and can't forget Jeff Gordon's voice saying the same 3 canned lines over and over and over and over and over.

Why? Don't you do that on a daily basis? ;)
