I live in a relatively wealthy suburban area of New Jersey, in a town with a few well known celebrities and executives. Seeing something like a Carrera is pedestrian; Bentleys and Rolls Royces make frequent appearances, as well as classic muscle cars and sports cars.

Two towns over is a dealer specializing in exotic car sales and it's common to see a Countach or Ferrari at the stoplight.

A few weeks ago I made my second business trip to Tokyo. It is a great place for exotic car watching. Not only is it interesting to see the various vehicles that aren't sold in North America, but I found downtown Tokyo to be a great place for exotics (I was in the Shinagawa section). In my short 3-day stay, I saw a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Ferrari 355, a 1st generation Camaro (odd sight in Tokyo), a Brabus Mercedes coupe (I forget the model, E55?), and my coworker showed me a picture he snapped with his camera phone of an F40 in an underground garage. All this within a few blocks between the hotel and office.

Tokyo is a great place to go exotic car watching. Had I known, I would have kept a camera with me at all times.

So, what other cities around the world are great for car lovers?

And let me guess, a billion Skylines? (I wish!)

Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne are pretty decent for nice cars - 95% of course German. :)

And from where I've been, the biggest paradise is Bulgarian seaside - Sunny Beach in particular, of course at peak season time. SLR, Enzo and many other Ferraris, Porsches, BMW, Merc and AUDI are all modified, nothing less than AMG and M's, all Brabus, lotsa Lorinsers, many Carlsson's as well, Ac Schnitzer is quite common, I've seen a few times Breyton's as well. Strech limo's are also not an exception from the everyday sight. Mostly european cars though, hardly any US or Japanese attractions. :)

All you need to do is sit out in a bar on the main street, and watch all those fancy cars roll by at 2mph, showing off, revving engines etc, in the traffic jam. :)

The problem is that we're a bit unimaginative when it comes to cars. Everybody who wants a sportscar goes for the Porsche. If you don't go for it, you buy the German tuned sedan IE. AMG/Brabus.

What's interesting though is that you'll never see a new BMW M car on the road here. :?

It's the same when it comes to classic cars. You drive a MINI, a VW or an ALFA. That's 90% of the classic cars here.

^ Every coutry is like that. Everywhere domestics are most popular. Or at least whatever is produced within domestic boundaries.

I could say hong kong is great for car watching... if you stand in the CBD, I can bet that out of 10cars, you'll see at least 3-4mercedes going past and maybe out of 20cars, 1 would be exotic be it a 360 modena or a Bentley Arnage or something like that

French Riviera. Also Monterey and Carmel CA :D

Where i live: Bloomfield Hills, MI. i know it is some tiny city, but it is one of the richest cities in the US. This becomes apparent if you keep your eyes open in the Summer: Enzo, F40, F50 + more.

I live 45mins NW of Chicago, the townships next to mine r mult-mill$ homes, but being Chicago (friend and I have come to believe) the weather is a major factor why we dont have as many nice cars compared to areas like west coast Cal. Having hard winters i think shys people away from buying nice cars. So most of the nice cars around here are Mercs. But there is Motorwerks http://www.motorwerks.com atleast one of the biggest car dealers in the US. But idk alot of SUVs because all the rich people have to drive in snow i guess.

If you want exotic cars, don't come to Finland! I've seen a couple of porsches around my town but that's about it. There's of course the yellow 360 Modena, which you see quite often because it's a rental car! Based in a rentalshop here in Tampere. Other than that, rich people just buy the usual dull sedans: mercs and BMW's.. The car taxes here pretty much force out the expensive cars, the tax doubles a cars price.

Monte Carlo is pretty nice, more exotic cars than there are "ordinary" cars
Yeh thats what I was thinking. Gee, just me seeing a new Porsche is good enough here in Aus :(

Oh and also the Autobarn :)

Heh, perhaps he needs to get some auto accessories  (For those not in the know, autobarn is, as they themselves put it a "specialist auto accessories store") or perhaps a Freudian slip...

Saw my first AM V8 on the road yesterday here in Sydney. (In Mosman, where else) I was surprised as to how different sounding it was when it was not being pushed. There's no growly note like the DB9 or the Vanquish. (Also seen in the same vicinity but not at the same time)

I think I was the only one who was staring at it or even recognising what it was, everyone elsee seemed more preoccupied with shopping and stuff...

I must have been in the wrong areas when I went to Tokyo, I didn't see that many exotic cars.... I'm sure they were around though.

^i think no place where it regulary snows, is (unless it's some richies ski-hangout like aspen)

Don't come here (Canada) to see nice cars - Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto are not very good car watching places.
But Vancouver has that Lotus/Lamborghini/Ferrari/God/Orgasmo dealership...

Downtown Paris is a great place to car-watch. In the one week I stayed there, I saw....well crap, I wrote it down when I was there. Suffice to say it was a happenin' place for nice metal.

Oh, and two more locations: South Beach in Miami, though it's more vulgar and bling than other locations, so there'll be tricked trucks alongside the Lambos and Bentleys, and some suburbs of Ft. Lauderdale such as Davie, where I've seen a Rolls Corniche drop-top and a Viper GTS coupe, among others.
