DRIV3R, from Dieselstaion, started a competition in DS's IRC channel and I thought I'd bring it here to our forums as well as their's. (The thread at Dieselstation.)

The rules are simple - use any PRODUCTION car to set an A-Spec lap time of the 'Ring in GT4. It can either be stock or tuned (NOS is okay of course). But, unlike the license tests, it's okay if you go into the grass, however if there are areas where you can cut, please don't do it on purpose. ;) Also, save the reply or do it in GT mode -> World Circuits so that you can go back and take a picture of your lap time if someone contests your time.

When you set a lap time, please post here what car you did it in, whether it was tuned or stock, the lap time with thousandths of a second, and what input devide you used (Dual Shock 2, wheel, etc.). I'm betting we're gonna have a couple times that are gonna be less than a second apart, hence why I'm making this last rule.

Okay, and here's out results so far (only listing each person's best personal lap time):

Go here for the list: http://forums.dieselstation.com/index.php?showtopic=10612

Ginetta G4 (Tuned + Using NOS)

I didn't use world circuits, I did this in the Professional Races -> World Classics race against an AC 427.
Note, this car is a bit "unstable".

Yeah, NOS is assumed. :p

Really? I never used it except for that time (cuz I needed it).
I'm usually too lazy to hold that damn button.

I always have NOS on any car I drive. Cheap horsepower and I always use it for accelerating down the main straight on a track. I have it rebound to L2.

We're gonna include what controller you used now to see if people are faster with wheels or DS2's. :)

finally an organized and listed track times thread!

play with the DS2 btw.

Now since I have no really good balanced cars for this, I'll try it in arcade with stock cars.

EDIT: new PB 7:34.415 with a modded Viper, that lap wasn't pretty let me tell you

I just won the 1886 Mercedes-Benz Motor Wagen tonight. Its quarter mile time? 1:40. Yep, that's right, one minute and forty seconds!

I'm going to give it a run around the 'Ring and see how long it takes tommorow morning. I'm guessing it's going to be over an hour. I'll post the results here for comedic value if nothing else. :p

zenon - it doesn't have enough horsepower to go up the hills.

I did a lap of Sarthe II with it and I had to zigzag up that first hill. Took me 52 damn minutes to do a lap.

Just did it in 8.07.817 in an Impreza (the cheap one :p ) did eveything to increase horse power except fit a turbine kit and do the engine balancing thing

Only thing I didn't do was drive it in photo mode so if you don't wanna put it on the list I can understand it, will do it again anyway.... and then again :p

edit, forgot to mention what I used
Used a Dual Shock 2 controller... it's all I have so uh.... yeah

:( I actually realized that might be a problem after posting. That sucks.

Me and a friend always have 2-player races with the below 20 horsepower cars in the game. We've had some pretty hilarious races. If you knock a guy out into a flat wall, it usually takes them a good 20-30 seconds just to get going on course again.

RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87 (Stock)
Dual Shock 2

Trying to "live" the video.

As you already know:
gt4times0032bz.jpg

That was in arcade mode using DS2.

I think we should have to post images for proof too btw.

I think we should only post pictures if someone questions the time.
It's a PITA for me to post a picture, since my digital camera is from the stone age and doesn't work with Windows 2000 / XP, so I have to fire up an old PC to get the pictures.

Besides, a lot of aspects of this are on the honor system anyway.
For example you could say your car is stock when it's in fact tuned, or you could hit every wall and the kitchen sink in order to get a time, and a picture isn't going to prevent any of that.

I really wish there was a way to grab replays though, cuz that would cover cheating a bit more, plus it would be cool to see other people's handywork.

Also got Dodge Viper SRT-10 - 7:44.313 in arcade mode from the vid I made for Viper ages ago. I'm gonna get some more times soon.

Here's my latest:

That's tuned with DS2
