Guess That Car game - By Clues Only

Is it a special version of a mainstream model?

1. This car was the last of its breed to be built by the manufacturer up to this day.

2. The manufacturer built these cars in two production series through two separate sub-contractors.

3. 40 examples of this car have been built.

4. This car was fitted over the course of the years with two different 4-liter engines.

Was it built before 1950?

Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet?

EDIT: Or perhaps the GTO, but i think 39 of those were built.

Or perhaps even the 375 America.

Ferrari 333 SP

Has to be:
By the end of its career, 40 examples were produced, an incredible amount for any prototype racer, let alone a Ferrari. The first 14 cars were constructed by Dallara, the next 26 by Michelotto.

Next - one clue only to start, because it should be easy:
1- While being developed it's project name was that of a cartoon.

Plymouth Roadrunner?

Nope.

And AFAIK, Topolino was the name it was given by the public when it went on sale, not the development team.
