With those lights, I'll say it's either british or italian.

You're right there :)

And can we narrow it down to italian?

Sorry, we can't! :p

I take that it's British, then - and it doesn't seem to be anything that has been part of the British Leyland empire at one point, I'd guess it's something rather small - those rear lights look very basic to me.

It was under the rather large umbrella of British Leyland, believe it or not. And it wasn't really small - about 15,000 of them were produced in the UK alone.

And no, it's not a sports car.

It's not a 4 door, not sure what a combi is but going by Google Images it's not any kind of van or minibus. [oddly enough, googe imaging 'combi' produces lots of old Volkswagen hippy vans].

Heh, I lived with a German family for a bit, I should've known that.

Nope, it's not an estate car.

I'm stuck, so let's try and error: it's not a Triumph, MG, Rover or Land Rover of any kind?

It doesn't wear the badge of any of those four marques, no.

How could I forget that one, now that I know it it's more than obvious: Mini Moke.

Heh, yep! Originally proposed as the UK version of the vernerable American military Jeep, but it's tiny tyres and not-very-impressive ground clearance meant it was fairly useless offroad.

It was made, new, up until 1992 [admittedly by then only in Portugal, as UK production ceased in 1968].

Now mainly remembered as being the vehicles of choice in the cult TV show The Prisoner.

*feels smart for lasting longer than 5 posts in this game*

True, we had quite a hard time with that one. (Therefore I've got a rough impression of the BL product range now :D )

so this is a V8 ?
it feels big
first I thought Jag MKII
but in fact I'm quite assured that this is a BMW 501 with a 6 cylinder
the 502 had the V8 though but the rear wasn't the same (bigger window).
BTW:love this car , they made it in cabriolet and coup? , mind blowing!

Might have messed up the numbers of cylinders, but it indeed is a "Barockengel" BMW 50x Series - your turn, Triumph! (Will post the original picture later if required)
