watching that episode now looks preety sweet looks like got the MIGHTY HEMI :twisted:

and what might be so mighty about it?

if hemi was so mighty, other brands would've copied it. and the new hemi isn't even a hemi anymore, they just keep using the name

The new hemi is a combination of a old hemi and a regular wedge-shaped design. It's not one or the other, but 4 valves are still etter.

Its not the fact that its a hemi that makes it mighty, its the fact that its a frickin huge engine.

And Dodge has the trademark on the name, so no-one else can call there engine a hemi regardless of if its actualy a hemi or not.

I still can't believe he bought that piece :lol:

The new hemi does use hemispherical heads.
Read this

Oh yeah, I didn't think Hammond's had a hemi anyway.
The engine produces 345 horsepower, and compares very favorably with other gasoline engines in its class. For example [ref]:

* Dodge 5.7 liter V-8 - 345 hp @ 5400 rpm
* Ford 5.4 liter V-8 - 260 hp @ 4500 rpm
* GMC 6.0 liter V-8 - 300 hp @ 4400 rpm
* GMC 8.1 liter V-8 - 340 hp @ 4200 rpm
* Dodge 8.0 liter V-10 - 305 hp @4000 rpm
* Ford 6.8 liter V-10 - 310 hp @ 4250 rpm

Thats from that site.

A Gen III V8 will do around 400 hp from 5.7 litres. That makes the hemi not that favourable when compared to it.

do you have any more info? a website maybe
i just know they stepped away from the pure hemi design, but that's about it

and a hemi might give power, but a round chambers (like everyone else uses) gives better swirl and the combustion flows to all edgess of the cylinder better

It can be summed up in 4 words...

"Big Car, Small Richard"

:lol:
:D He is gonna look so stupid driving that thing. I wonder what the turning circle is like on that :thumbsdown:
Back to "hemi's", like Leppy said, why go for a Hemi when a Gen 3 V8 can get 400BHP out of 5.7ltrs ;)

Two words; sausage compensation. ;) Bigger engine, smaller sausage.

if you didnt get the joke, a nickname for richard is "dick" dunno why, but it is

therefore, "Big Car, Small Richard" = "Big Car, Small Dick"
