[some stuff about eMule]

We're sticking to bittorent because as far as I know it's the only place where leechers can download from other leechers, and not only from someone with a completed source, etc. which means bittorent offers superior speeds.

It's not like eMule is new or anything anyway, I'm pretty sure everyone knows about it already..

It doesn't have to be from a completed source. You can download bits of files from different users until you have the whole thing. And all the while, others can get whatever you have of it. It stores cumulatively in a temporary folder, then just transfers to another one when it's completed. And then people can keep getting whatever they need from you as long as it's on your computer, of course.

I know it's not new, but there are a lot of things available through eMule that can't be found with bittorrent. That's the main reason why I'm mentioning it. Plus, its popularity seems to be at an all-time high now, meaning tons of people using it all the time.

emule works in chunks. Once you have one chunk you can start uploading it to others. The chunk size cannot be adjusted and it is about 9.5MB. It has reached the point where there are usually over 5 million users on at any one time. The highest I have seen is 5.9 million. By the way, I share stuff I have captured on it. Search for "Auto motor und sport - English". The new season of it has started. It is an analog capture because although I have a digital TV card, the transmission is from a community station, Briz31, and they do not transmit digitally.

Nice, will be looking out for that :D

Thanks for the info, roaming. Hadn't heard of that show before, but now I've queued up some of them.

One of them that really intrigues me mentions the Lamborghini Espada. I figured that was an odd car to feature on a new show, but I just found this, which is probably what it's about. :)

They have a fascination segment and a cult segment where they sometimes look at old and/or strange cars and sometimes things that move on wheels but are not exactly cars. Search for "the car show 2004" for a few videos from a now defunct show.

emule is damn slow, because of the chunks and all
Yeah, it can be, but I queue up so many things at once, it's not like I'm expecting everything to be done in an hour anyway. I just let it go overnight or whatever, then see how many goodies I have to watch in the morning. I've found so many things that I don't mind waiting a bit longer (and I currently can't use bittorrent anyway).

And yeah, the-realworld.de is a great source for episodes. I owe many thanks to them. :)

Thats just the plain difference between Emule and BT...

With BT you have to stick to a small number of things to dl at once (yeah, you can queue em up, but when you dl 10 different things at once it gets hella slow...)

And with Emule you HAVE to queue up 40 - 80 files to get decent speeds...

I don't use it anymore, because afaik in Germany they are a bit bit after the Emule users right now... I figure, I'm quite safe getting all the stuff from piratebay... (swedish tracker...)

I don't understand what you mean by that. If it's a popular file, like a new episode of Top Gear, why would someone need to have 40 other things in their queue to get a decent speed?

emule was crap.

I used it but liked P2P or bittorrent instead because they move faster.

Bittorrent moves very fast and P2P like kazaa etc allow you to trade with the members, emule doesnt and its just annoying.

sorry to hear that you love it so much  :bangin:

Actually, I don't. I love what I can find on it, and it's my best option at the moment, but I do kinda miss the speed of bittorrent. And Kazaa isn't nearly as useful as it used to be, I find, especially video-wise.

I mean the total speed of the thing... I got 4 things in BT -> It flys at my max speed...
I got 4 things in emule -> its around 30 kb/s

And yes, I have had some partial emule dls with more than 400 kb/s, but that's not all the way, just a couple of chunks you get from high bandwidth guys...
