Heartbreaking behind the scenes shot of Redline, including the CGT crash

I don't get all the hate. It's a movie with lots of cool supercars racing, what's the problem. You aren't going to miss the ones that get destroyed. You weren't going to buy a Carrera GT, and if you were you can buy one of the other thousand.

That black guy sitting in the chair talks like a complete mong but apart from that i'd like to see the movie.

Also, previous 'car movies' and cult classics had their own classics getting destroyed, I don't see anyone complaining about that now.

Vanishing Point destroyed a E-type Jag and a 67 Camaro.

Christine ruined countless 57-59 Plymouth Furys and one 68 z28

Gone in 60 Seconds (1973) Destroyed several now classic cars, including the 73 Mach

Junkman ruined a Corvette, a Bricklin and some planes.

Every favorite Car movie in time has destroyed it's fair share of desirable cars.

This is no different.

"Eleanor" still exists. They still bring her out on occasional, body damage and all.

Whats a real travesty is that the 2000 remake is sending untold numbers of Mustang Fastback shells to be "reborn" as that god-awful Grey and black POS Resto-mod. Whats even worse is that Shelby authorizes it!!

Senile old bastard.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way  ! I can't stand "Elenor" and I don't like any of the attempts to copy it, regardless if they are legitimized by Shelby or not. Besides, the better Shelby Mustang is the GT350, it's a true track car for the street.

Just take heed in knowing that once all these conversions have been done, a non-optioned base 6-cylinder will end up being worth more than their 700hp supercharged replicars.

In other news, apparently this movie is so bad no one could be bothered to review it! http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/redline/  :lmao:

Ford is planning on approving a "remake" Fastback Shell.

Sad reality is that this whole "restomod" crap is gonna screw up the Auto enthusiast markets for years to come.

GM has already allowed that with the Camaro. It is entirely possible to built a 67-69 Camaro without using one factory GM part. You can register them as 60's cars even, but they aren't original numbers matching cars. Those will be the ones worth money. Same will hold true for the Ford.

I actually like this idea, it will only piss off the people in this hobby to make money off of sky rocketing values, not the hot rodders or enthusiasts who actually want to enjoy the car, or their own idea of the car. If the bodies drive down prices on originals enough to drive these assholes out of the market, I'm all for it.

I may hate Elenor and Elenor clones, but they help warrant companies reproducing old bodies. I hear that same company is planning on doing a few of the Mopars as well.

It'll be nice to actually be able to afford to buy/build one of these cars again. I grew up lusting after most of these, and unless I want to get a complete heap of shit (or a mustang), I'm out of luck otherwise.

Saw it. It was fucking retarded. Need for Speed: The Movie meets softcore porn in a wigger's pot-ridden fantasy head, with the style of a music video so you didn't even get a good view of the cars. Regardless, it was fucking hilarious.

But the Aqua Teen movie, which we snuck into afterwards as part of our plan, was the funniest thing I've seen in a while! Go see it, it's great! :D

They should just remake the whole thing. it never stopped Morgan. It would be awesome to buy a new old Mustang!

I hate those restomods. The sad thing is it has spread to other muscle cars. Don't thinks it's hit the Nova SS yet, sadly that may only be a matter of time.

So let me get this straight... you paid to go see Redline, which means you actually helped them get their money back, and then "stole" a viewing of ATHF? Or did you just assume that the theatre would be watching for theatre hoppers at the Redline screening (who'd pay to see it?)

You really want an old mustang, complete with 4 wheel drum brakes (or where front discs standard?), and poor rear-suspension geometry?

I don't see a huge issue with "restomods", except when all they can be bothered to do is to make General Lee's, Elenor's, and "American Graffiti" '55 Chevy's.

I'd love to (and hope to some day) build a '69 Z28, with a modern v8 and transmission, and improved rear suspension geometry, and beefy 4 wheel disc brakes.

Well Redline was showing first and my friend really wanted to see it...don't ask, it was his idea.

Yes!

I love the sound of a restomod that looks old on the outside and new underneath. I don't like restomods where they add modern paintjobs, bling wheels, custom bodykits etc.

wow SO MUCH DRAMA over fake cars

1. the CGT that flips has no drivetrain, you can see the sky through the engine bay. they never flip fully equipped cars anyway, too much weight, a shell is half of the weight to throw in the air.
i seriously doubt it was real either way, looks too narrow, a $35000 replica would easily do the trick, like this one:
porsche_carrera-boxter_gt-2.jpg

2. The diablo is replica, thats for sure, look at the tail light panel. my guess is it's an IFG kit, looks like it.

so all in all, hardly a tragedy.

Well, alot of the major auction houses have already downgraded "Clones" and other such cars as being "hot." Heck, one of them is reporting that they're getting the folks that want to unload them at the prices they paid for them!!

The real money right now is in documented survivors and Original Mustangs (i.e. No Eleanors and other Resto-Mod crap).

Are you sure your not mistaking Resto-mod with another style of rod/muscle car?

Resto-mods are mostly about minor things that make the car a lot better. Like 4 wheel disc brakes, 4 bar rear ends, better dampers and bored and stroked engines, a decent paint job, etc... Basically fixing the things that need fixing, without straying to far from looking factory.

The other style tend to look like pro-touring, but with bigger wheels, and air bags. And usually have things like "fender gills" (like on the E46 m3's), or some kind of carbon fiber insert. A perfect example would be this mustang.
I really wish I knew what these were called, cause I like older pro-touring cars (a muscle car that handles and stops, "yes please!"), but these things like this mustang I can't stand.
