I have recently become the "proud" owner of 1/3 of a '93 Mitsubishi Chariot Mx 2.0 (The other two thirds being held by my gf and a good friend). It's an ok car for what it is IMO. Yes, the handling is about as crisp as pudding, and it dosen't excatly ooze of sex, but it was pretty cheap (~1500 USD) and seats seven so plenty of space when doing roadtrips (We're in NZ for 5 months so we try to see as much as we can).

Thing is the hubcaps are falling apart (Amongst other things...) and we're probably going to get us some new ones. Being inspired by the wast amounts of Impreza WRX's and STI's around here we've decided we wan't them to be in gold.

(Yeah yeah I know, but MS paint was all I had handy)

So, question is: How do I best paint some regular cheap-o plastic hubcaps gold?

My idea is to give the surface some sandpaper, spray on some primer, then the gold color and maybe give it a layer or two of lacquer...

What do you think???

Is it excessive with primer? Would it maybe be enough to just spray on the gold or would that peal off?

I'd say some gloss black wheels would look better...but I've never been a fan of magnesium wheels on the STIs...

Spraypaint.... out door spray paint.

You should paint racing stripes and flames too.

it needs 20 inch rims and flat screen tvs on the ceiling obviously
