Hey!
I got some video files that are 980:528, 1:1,85 so to say... My DivxPlaya doesn't play them. I had a try in getting them down in Virtual Dub. The Filesize is 700MB for 40 min and I could live with a max of 500 MB, the sound is ac3, I don't wanna change that.

Does anybody have a good advice for me? Like good virtual dub settings. Or codec settings. Somehow Xvid doesn't seem to have an option for downscaling the resolution.

The DivX Pro 5.1 result I had wasn't good at all

DivxPlaya is some sort of hardware player?

Yeah, its a standalone dvd player that can also play divx up to the latest pro version and xvid with non pro features... But the maximum resolution it can handle is 720x568 (dvd style...)

Kind of a shame to have to re-encode something because of that.

Yep... But I only have ac3 sound from that and not from my pc...

I guess, it will still look really good on my tv... Nonetheless, DVDrs aren't expensive, so I'll just have 2 versions... I'm really an ALIAS nut, so thats worth it for me...
