Hey all,

just got back from a grand day out at the Southport Historic Car Show 2006. It was a lovely day to see cars (though I'm now rather burnt) and I brought you all back a few pics.

I'm gonna post a few pics a day if possible as I don't know all the names of the cars, because I'm a numpty, so hopefully you'll be able to help me out. Much like the Classic Car Show thread I started about a year ago.

Gonna post them pretty much in chronological order as I saw them, so that you can experience the day as I did (albeit in photographic form). So, I'll start proceedings with this little beaut:

I believe this is a Ford Model T, though I seem to remember something about Model Ts only being available in black, so perhaps I'm wrong. Any ideas?

Had to look it up by myself because I don't know too much about cars of the pre-war era, it is indeed a Ford Model T, more precisely a Fordor built around 1927 (anybody please feel free to correct me if I should be wrong). The famous quote "you can have your car in any colour as long as it's black" doesn't count for the whole production time / range, this red pretty much should be an original colour.

And keep the pictures coming, most certainly will be enjoying every single one!

The model T originally came in a variety of colours... H. Ford never actually even said that thing he is so often quoted for. (and as Clarkson has pointed out all model T's built in the UK were blue)

They used black paint only after they switched to assembly line production because it dried faster (so I've read).

okay - onto the next one then - and thanks to mautzel for looking that up and mmap for further clearing it up (and Beni, why not!). Here's the next car in line, in fact you can see the rear end of it in the Model T picture:

It says Scat on the front, but I really don't know anything else about it and a search for Scat on google brings up some less than desirable results!! Any info is more than welcome! :)

Back then, their models were rather upper class models, judging by the apperance (electrical lights, but very basic and old fashioned mudguard) I'd say it's been produced between 1914 - 1920ish.

Scat's an Italian company which was located in Torino, Italy. (Anybody heared of that city because I'm not sure whether it's the right translation from the German Turin / city where Fiat is located as well) Scat was bought by Fiat in 1928, the last Scad was built in 1932.

Overheat Nice pics. I like the picnic hamper in the back of the scat. Makes you want to go for a run with a close friend (opposite sex in my case but hey what ever) and have a picnic under a shady tree - well it does me anyway.

yeah - it's amazing how many picnic baskets there were. On the really old ones like these, they were in place of boots, but even the cars with boots (or trunks as the Americans would say, preferably only in America as what we call trunks are what they call Speedos - and that's not part of a car) had a picnic basket in the back. Then again, this current heatwave is total picnic weather. Did I mention how incredibly burnt my arms are after this show? It sucks being ginger. Grr....

I fry if someone turns on 100 WATT bulb. Freckles you know.

hehe - well, i'm still impressed as I had a quick look on wiki after i'd posted it and couldn't find a thing. Anyway, onto today's:

Sorry, not a full car this time - this is almost turning into a Guess That Car game :p Anyway, I thought this car looked nice at this angle, so here's the resulting picture. Can anyone name the car? I can't :(

well, I guess there are no takers for that one, so onto the next one, which is much more recognisable :)

Naturally this is a De Lorean DMC-12. Not quite as old as some of the cars here, but always a popular sight.

Couldn't find any specs on that Austin - too much similar models from that time, and I won't say something to the Irish supercar attempt with that rather weak beating Swedish heart in it :D

Is it Swedish, I thought it had a peugeot engine? I remember reading somwhere that it was initially designed to have a rotary though, which would have made it even cooler :p

anyway, here's another golden oldie for you:

This is a 1927 Clyno, as you might be able to just about work out from the picture. I believe it's a 12/35, though I'm not entirely sure, perhaps mautzel can save the day yet again? :)

That's a Brit. They were produced from 1922 - 1929 in order to compete with Morris in the small car segment and were distributed by the Rootes group, but financial issues led to the disappearance of that brand. (Doesn't look that small on the picture :) )

it's the art of photography :p

well, i'll post another now, despite the short time gap - I've got a hell of a lot of these to get through! :D

Damn, I love this car - it just oozes class - it's a Rolls Royce of some sort (I need you again mautzel - well, as long as you don't mind anyway, I figure you enjoy looking these things up, but correct me if I'm wrong). Anyone else think this is rather pretty, despite my poor composition?

here's another Rolls for you to drool over:

I believe this is a Silver Shadow II, though I might be wrong.

here's today's car pic:

I took this one of a moving car as it went by me, so I'm quite impressed with the result :)

I know who the manufacturer is on this one, but can any of you lot name the make or manufacturer?
