Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I can't wait. Looks good.

I'm re-reading it right now! This time in original language, English. At the end of the second book already. Can't wait for the movie :)

I am so excited for this movie! I'm usually really sceptical and negative about movies based on books (because they usually turn out horrible), but I have extremely high hopes for this movie.

The casting they did was absolutely perfect. Martin Freeman as Arthur and Mos Def as Ford Prefect were great choices. They are exactly how I imagined the characters while reading the books. The director hasn't done much (just work on a Blur video as far as I know), but all of the trailers I've seen look really really good.

I just wish I wasn't swamped with school work so I could re-read the book in time for the movie. It is short though, so if I get a completely free weekend I'll re-read it. :D

I can't believe that director got this - he's a total nobody - high expectations all round. Though he did make an awesome Music Video for Coffee & TV, and I do really enjoy director's that come from Music vids - here's to hoping!

***EDIT - I was blatently misinformed - he is in fact one half of Hammer and Tongs, who have done some stunning things - go here for examples:

If you google "the answer to life the universe and everything" (w/o quotes), it will give the answer to life :p

It has to do with a question being posed in the book "The Hitchhiker's Guide To Galaxy."

The answer is 42

Hi, am new. Just thought i'd mention that i've just started watching the HGttG series that was first shown on the BBC i think in the late 80's. I was a little young at the time to watch or understand it fully so i hope to pick it up quickly.

It's available for download, 6-episodes i think, with BT.

Wasn't that 9??? I really don't know, though...

I just LOVED the book... Hopefully the movie is good...

//edit: I just watched it... Awesome... Maybe the best trailer for a movie I've ever seen...

Anyway, I was addicted to the book, so it a must-see for me.
But what did they do to Zaphod... As far as I remember he had 2 heads side to side and not in the even weirder way you can see in the trailer for a very short time...

9? Really? Then i need to find the final three. Of dear, that would be a pity of the guys just put up the first six since that's all i have then leave you stranded for the finish.

I really don't know... I just remember seeing some torrent at piratebay with 9 eps and some with 6...
Dunno... Lets google it

//edit: Go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081874/ it says its 6 eps...

I finished reading 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' for the 2nd time last week. I'm half way through 'Restaurant at the End of the Universe' now. I forgot how absolutely brilliant these books are.

I have a feeling this is going to be a great movie (and I almost never like book-to-movie or comic-to-movie translations). :D

Same here. Now reading 4th book, and feels like I'm reading it for the 1st time.
One more thing about the trailer. Didn't Zaphod suppose to have 2 heads? I didn't notice anyone with 2 heads in this trailer

He has them! Check 2:01 min. He doesn't have 2 beside each other, but "upsidedown" something...

You should read "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, funny stuff, it's about the end of the world, said to be "A direct descendant of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

I've read quite a bit of Neil Gaiman's comic book work, so I will definetely check that out when I get the time.

Interesting fact though: Neil Gaiman's son is a member and has posted on this forum. He hasn't posted in a long time (and I actually don't remember what his username is anymore), but I happend to check out his user profile one night and started reading some of his webpage. By coincidence I was reading Neil Gaiman's blog at the same time, and suprise suprise, the guy was actually Neil Gaiman's son.

Anyways, I've paraded my geekiness enough for one night. :p I'm going to move this thread to the Entertainment section as it fits better there.
