Honda Accord transmission problem help

Just an tip for those with the same prob

Mine was fixed, using a tranmission rebuild kit only, not necessary to have it replaced, saved lots of money. Honda was going to charge equivalent to 1700 dollars. It just cost me 500 us (with labor included) with a transmission specialist.

Hopefully mine lasts. :D There's a small noise from the transmission, some kind of spinning noise (not a worrying noise) but so far I have driven around 200miles ok so far.

I have a 1987 honda accord and just recently a problem started. i will be driving and the rpms will sky rocket and id lose power like the transmission put itself into neutral. then sometimes when im starting off from a light it dosnt seem to be in gear. its an 4 speed automatic trans. if i slowly push on the gas sometimes i wont have that problem. i have to drive like a semi truck but im in a car...

Your transmission is toast.

I've been having that issue for months now but only when the car is cold. I take it easy until it warms up and then its a-ok, so I'm not worried about it.
Pretty funny to see this old post, considering that that transmission died. Honda automatics suck!

Nah, just that there was a certain year range where they did. Most were actually more than decent.

I've come to the conclusion (now that their era is coming to an end) that nobody made a 'great' 5 speed automatic, few made a good one, and there were a lot of 'meh' or bad ones.

It was quite a wide range. TL automatics had issues up to and including 2008.
