Your transmission is toast.I have a 1987 honda accord and just recently a problem started. i will be driving and the rpms will sky rocket and id lose power like the transmission put itself into neutral. then sometimes when im starting off from a light it dosnt seem to be in gear. its an 4 speed automatic trans. if i slowly push on the gas sometimes i wont have that problem. i have to drive like a semi truck but im in a car...
Pretty funny to see this old post, considering that that transmission died. Honda automatics suck!I've been having that issue for months now but only when the car is cold. I take it easy until it warms up and then its a-ok, so I'm not worried about it.

It was quite a wide range. TL automatics had issues up to and including 2008.Nah, just that there was a certain year range where they did. Most were actually more than decent.
I've come to the conclusion (now that their era is coming to an end) that nobody made a 'great' 5 speed automatic, few made a good one, and there were a lot of 'meh' or bad ones.
