I'm basically looking at this part only...

revealed in a recent issue of The American Conservative by intelligence analyst Philip Giraldi:

"The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States. Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doing ? that Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack ? but no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections."

Riiiight... I think I'll be moving to a cave somewhere where I don't have to have worry about A-holes like the people planning those things.

Great, this is even more pointless than the war in Iraq. If he does attack Iran, I'll assure you that I'll personally try and kill George Bush. I probably wouldn't succeed, but everyone loves a martyr.

What is even sadder is that the majority of the American public can so easily be coerced into believing the biggest load of shit.

Dunno if on topic, sorry Firecat

But read an news story about an American senator who had said on a radio interview that if terrorists do more attacks on the US then they should bomb Mekka in response to them in order to make them understand the consequences...

Well I'm sorry but I doubt very much if that would be wise... having a few extremists on your back I should imagine is minor compared to teh whole islam world declairing Jihad on you?

Don't count on that ever happening. We have a few crockpots in office, sure, but not enough to worry about such a crazy retaliation taking place.

Sorry when I read that I had a mental image of Gary from Team America when he was talking to the terrorist leaders. (Just watched it so I couldn't help it)

As for the original topic. Thats a bit scary. 60 minutes had a report on the Islamic communities in Australia and how some sheiks (sp?) are saying that they have more right to this land than Australians that are born here. Sounds like more reason to bomb Australia than Iran.

I agree. But this is based on the premise of another attack on america. If that were to happen, anything would be considered "fair game".....
9/11 happened and we're in Iraq, no connection there. It doesn't seem far-fetched to assume another attack would be used as a pretext for an Iranian invasion.

However, I still don't think it would come down to using nukes (of course some might not have a problem with these so-called "tactical nukes").

I'm sure the government has plans for many other things though. I bet they have a plan to invade canada as well...not that it would ever need implementing, just covering all scenarios.

I can see how the administration would be looking for anything they can use as an excuse to invade Iran, but i don't believe there will be any massive knee-jerk nuclear attack.

If however, there is, i'll be moving.

Oh puleez. Sorry, I call BS on this special "plan".

Remember: The goal of every first term President is to have a second term. The goal of every second term President is to be remembered well be historians.

Bush, no matter how crazy you think he is, will not want to be the first President since Truman to use the nuke.

I agree, 100%.....But it didn't say anything about "the nuke"...it said "tactical nukes"...I posted a while ago about the united states wanting to develop more nuclear weapons, that's what these tactical nukes would be considered. Much smaller, lower yield yada yada.....

Who said he was doing the planning?

On attacking Iran, I say go for it. Nothing like watching a superpower bleed itself to death with countless self-inflicted papercuts.

One can find loads of bullshit anti-war propoganda on the internet if one was so inclined.

This reminds me of when that stupid draft rumor was milling about. Representative Charlie Rangle (D) from NYC wanted to pass a bill to reinstate the draft and next thing you know all the hippies and anti-war ppl tried to connect the draft starting up with the Bush administration being re-elected. Nice scare tactic similar to this one.

I would delve into this story but Im on vacation and could care less if some of you think that the Bush administration is that evil or nuke crazy. Especially when Iran and N.Korea and developing nukes, but for energy purposes of course. ;)

I don't think it would happen, but with all the crap with the Bush administration, I wouldn't be surprised if this does happen.....

You raise an interesting issue about the draft. Yeah, it was a scare tactic and people were going after the administration about it (even though that particular bill was by democrats).

However, if there was never going to be a draft. Why not get rid of selective services? Why has spending increased for them, and why are they painting their offices? Why have commercials been running telling people to register? Hmmmm.....

if the US can have nukes.. and make new ones "tactical".. why other countries cant? what is so good about the americans.. that they can have nukes and other dont? who give them that privilege.....???????? ;)

And I wonder how many American Soldiers have die because of the war?.... there wasnt enough with the ones on 9/11? why they want to get more people kill?

I agree with Yayox, A country possessing nuclear wepons has no right to tell the other to destroy theirs...

I have a feeling that if President Musharraf had declined USA the help against Iraq, we would be targets, and we still are. When Musharraf came into power, they were calling him a dictator and other stuff and suddenly he's become good ! beacause he agreed with The US gvt...

I have a feeling USA will be the nation which will provoke WW3...
