How can I make a REAL copy of my favorite DVD?

I have a couple of DVDs that I might want to copy sometime, due to rarity and such, but the problem is, I want to be able to watch them on TV using my PlayStation (which will play DVD-Rs) or whatever, not just on my computer. I've tried CloneDVD, but I can only watch the disc on my computer. :?

Do any of you know of a program that will allow me to make an exact duplicate (an archive copy, I think it's called)?

Use dvdshrink to make personal backups of your dvds.

Jup, dvdshrink is the way to go. DVDShrink sucks big time. But it isn't the program that determines wether or not you can play it on a different player. It depends on the disc and the writer. I personally write on DVD+R (platinum, don't know their new mediacode) and had no problems so far (even plays on PS2). If you can bookmark (aka bitset), be sure to do this.
And keep in mind that when you make a backup of a dvd using single layer dvd, you will have quality loss. If you want a full backup (and have a dual LAYER writer), write them on a dual layer disc.

Yeah, i'm going to agree, DVDShrink is the best option. It does recompression to condense dual layer dvds(8.5GB) to single layer (4.7GB), if burning to single layer media.

Thanks for the tips, guys! And I'll definitely use dual layer. I was reading this, and using dual layer will mean not having to sacrifice features for quality. It's nice that you get so many options, though.

I was having above problem with DVD's only paying on certain players but make sure you click "Finalize DVD" and it'll work fine from there on out. It did for me anyway ...

I always Finalize my disks, cause I never have to add anything to them later. Also stick with better brand media for compatability. Frankly I dont see the loss in quality when converting a DL DVD movie into Single Layer, mostly its all the extra commentary and languages that take up the space, just uncheck the boxes for those and thereby keep your video quality to maximum

I uses DVD Decrypter for DVD5 and DVDShrink for DVD9, since it can shrink it to DVD5
I dunno why, I've just always done it that way.

I use DVD Shrink and burn the Audio and video TS Folders to a DVD as a Data DVD, then make sure the disk is finalised. Works a treat.

Cosworth, why not just set DVDShrink to create an ISO image, that way less steps involved, all you need to do is File-->open the image in Nero and it burns it perfectly

I started with DVDShrink, but then started using DVD Rebuilder + CCE. Makes the job maybe a bit slower than DVDShrink, but the quality, it's just magnificent.
