How come BMW never sued Pontiac over the usage of an almost copy-paste front grill?

There's no way they'd win under any form of intellectual property laws?

Thats where the similarities ended, so BMW doesn't give a damn. And the fact that Pontiacs were sold predominantly in the US of A and Canada. And there is pretty much no way in hell that they would win it.

If car companies could sue each other over grills, headlights, or taillights, the auto industry would be chaos.

The designs are different enough. Look closely and you'll see the BMW has bars, the GTO is mesh, the BMW has some silver trim the GTO doesn't. The shape of the opening is not the same, either.

Pontiac used a split grille on nearly every car they made since 1961.

BMW was still playing with the two ovals/rectangles in the middle of a wider grill design much later than that.

Probably because until the last 15 or so years GM could have easily just swallowed up BMW out of sheer arrogance. Or done like any large company does to the "little guy" bankrupt them via tying them up in court.

Oh and Pontiac has been building cars longer than BMW has (A whopping 2 years).

Because the GTO looks more like this

If anything, the BMW has begun to look more pontiac like.

YOu guys don't remeber the whole Jeep vs. Hummer lawsuit. It does happen, just not very often, and it is normally cost more than it nets.
