hey guys, as you know i have a dvd burner in my laptop and i am wondering how i can back up my ps2 games with it. do i just need a ps2 emulator so that i can burn it on to a cd?

aarrrgghhh i know but i dont really get them! i thought one of you guys would be making some urself...

alright i given it a go and i always find "copy ps2 games" i am tryign to make my own not copy them...(make my own as in ******* them somewhere and burning them)

Do you realize this will require a modded PS2? It's not as simple as burning a game on a DVD.

I would highly recommend you look into a HD loader. It requires having a hard drive in your PS2, but it is a much better way to play backups of games. If you want to put games on it easily you will have to have the actual disc itself (rent, borrow, buy or whatnot), but then you have a 100% copy of the game sitting on the hard drive in your PS2. I had a thread on the thing a while back, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Edit: Found the link: http://forum.finalgear.com/viewtopic.php?t=1297. I have an explination of how the HD Loader works as well as a link to an online store you can purchase the disc from in that thread.

As long as you have a modchip, its as simple as copy and burn the real game.
That is exactly my point though.

i live in hongkong less than 1/10 buy real games. when u buy a ps2 9.9/10 shops only sell ready mod'd ps2's.

plus my ps2 mod chip is a solder one and it plays dvd's as well. overall its like the top mod chip.

hey i argee it would be cool to have a HD for ps2 but using dvd's is much cheaper and i like it better for some reason.

DVD-R's are only like 2-3 HKD which is less is about 30c's american i guess. its even less if i buy them in a tower stack so you can do the maths i guess.

so overall. i am a noob lookin to find out how to burn ps2 games. i have a mod'd ps2 whcih is a solder one and does everything. i have dvd-r's and dvd burner.

Well, really all you should need to do now is find some games to burn. Back when Suprnova was around they had a huge selection of PS2 ISOs and BINs. I'm sure if you looked at any of the remaining torrent sites they'd also have quite a few.

I've never burned a backup of a PS2 game (only Dreamcast and PS1), but if you download one of the games and then burn it using something like Nero I'd imagine it would work.

If you want to duplicate a disc, you will probably need to use something like Nero again to rip a copy of the game to a BIN or ISO, and then burn that file. I'm not completely sure this would work now. I know with Dreamcast, the game data is written in a way that a computer can't read. You can't simply put the disc in and copy it. You actually need a Dreamcast Development kit that will extract the data before sending it to a computer to be burned. It's slightly complicated. :?

As for Google, I punched in "burn PS2 bakcups" and found this: http://www.totse.com/en/hack/software_cracking/163083.html. It looks like it would be quite helpfull.

yeah i looked at that and got lost on like th 2nd sentence. i got something called game clone and looks promising. pm me about it i will **** you it.

i heard u can play burn a ps2 game on to a CDR and it will still work even though the game is initally like 4.5 GB's. :S

contact me on AIM, i can answer all your questions about that stuff.

DVDR games (ISOs) are full DVD size while DVDRips are cut down versions withouth cinematics, music, or other stuff. DVD-Rips fit on CDRs.

HDLoader is NOT going to work on a PSTwo (slim PS2) since there is no HD.

Depending on what mod you have, it could wear down your PS2 laser. Early mods for the slim PSTwo basically kill the console, so beware of those. Newer mods are good, but all mods will use up lasers at least 2x faster since DVDRs reflect less than half as much as pressed DVDs.

To back up CD games, use Alcohol, for DVD games use Recordnow Max (i think thats the name).
