Over 1.3million people are in the process of evacuating. The storm cell is currently catagorised as a T5 (strongest) and is sustaining winds of approximatly 175MPH reaching a peak of 200MPH.

Authorities are unsure of whether its going to slow down enough before reaching land however its most likely going to hit land under category 5.

GALVESTON Texas is where it is expected to hit. The city of 58,000 is 8-feet above sea level but the storm could surge up to a height of 50feet! GALVESTON is protected by a sea wall that is only 17feet tall...

Anyway, its happening all over again...I hope people evacuate in time, those highways are filled to the brim. There is also consern as to how to fund another releif effort. My thoughts go out to all those who are evacuating and fearing the worst. Hope any finalgear members in the area stay safe...Cruzz563 in Houston, dont know what they can expect there but Houston seems to be tucked away off the basin.

Almost everyone has evac as i've heard. They aren't taking any chances like Katrina.

Is it possible to have a Cat 6?

Rita is now a Catagory 4, and will most likely weaken a bit more before hitting Texas.

All the roads going North are jammed and gas is scarce. Its getting bad down there now.

Yea, it is. I am actually in Kansas City right now, but have heard a lot today. I-45 out of Houston is open for north bound traffic on both sides. Traffic is bumper to bumper for up to 100 miles north of Houston. my girlfriend's roommate's dad is on his way up - travelled 50 miles in 24 hours so far. Gas in the north texas area is already becoming scarce and lines are forming. Many stations are out of regular or mid grade fuel.

Should be fun driving back on Sunday...

I hope our members (Cruzz and others from that area) have already left the area.

I was about to post the same thing. Does anyone knows if he left?

I surely hope the result isn't as bad as Katrina's.

The evacuation number total has gone from 1.3 to 1.8million. I just saw video of the Interstate highways on FOX and they look totally conjested. Hundreds of cars on the side without fuel...

They expect it to hit sometime on Saturday afternoon...hope Cruzz is taking care, i'm sure he'll be aight though ;)

Hey guys
Dunno if you were following the storm, but at the last possible minute it veered East and spared Galveston and Houston. All in all, 2.5 million Galveston residents and Houstonians evaced. I was not one of them. My family and I just went West, to stay at an aunts house, we never lost power or digi cable ^_^. 24 nursing home patients died in bus while being evaced and a handful of others died from heat exhaustion on the motorway. Children were sick from the heat. Record highs were the on the menu for those days and people were also running out of gas. Rita did the most damage to a city East of Houston, that was Beaumont. It also flooded N.O. LA again, and Lake Charles, LA and Port Arthur, TX. :|

Its good to know you are okay Cruzz, I think we are all glad Rita wasn't as bad of a storm as it was predicted to be.

I had a feeling you'd be allrite Cruzz :) Just relieved that the hurricane eased off and veered East away from the bulk of the population.

Welcome back home :welcome:

Thanks ^_^
As soon as I got my net connection back, about 1 hour 20 minutes ago. I jumped on and started downloading and shot to the forum :D

So glad you'r okay, nice way to start the day  welcome back :D
