I BOUGHT THE F*CKING BUG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oke then the underneath is still ok for a few years :)

I don't know yet, I hope I can get it in some shed somewhere (don't have one myself)

The salt is killing for plating.

I know, the salt ... murder!

But the trick is to wash it once a week, then drive it to a shopping mall where there is free parking, (and warm), and let it stay there til it's nice and dry :)

This minimizes the chance of rust!

Btw: I saw the pictures of your Beetle in your "I finally bought a Beetle"-thread, damn they look sooooo nice dude ... fuck, I'd trade in my red for your colour ANY day man ... that was the colour I was actually looking for! But those rims you have on are the ones I am really jealous of! *drooool*
Got any suggs for nice rims?

Hehehe thanks :D Pretty proud myself too!
Actually it's better to dry it off yourself with a dustfree cloth (right word?) you have to clean it in the washing machine every week so theres no stuff in it that can damage your paint. And if you're real secure you should dry it after every time it rained, I did it at first but you can't keep up when you're not at home..

And rims, the Beetles have special rims that look very pretty on Beetles only, don't do porcherims.
My rims are the same as yours but I have this spokestrip, that makes it different, it's not a different rim.

Lemme show you some rims.

There are plenty more but I have some schoolwork to do too, if you go through the google pics of beetles you'll find plenty.

The only ones I really liked from those, were these

The Porsche ones is a biiig no-no in my eyes, since I like as original Beetles as possible.

Btw, I probably have to drive 8 hrs. to get to a friend of mine who lives in the south-west in Norway next weekend, because he has to help me drill new holes in the bottom of the car and fit the chair further back in the car, cuz I'm 190 cm.s tall and have my knees up my jaw while driving ... you know, Clarkson and me ;)

haz

Lol, you can pull the seat back, with the lever. I'm about 190 too and it's pretty comfortable for me...

Don't drill too soon, those spots will have to be tectyled...wouldn't reccomend...only if nothing else works..

Well, I dunno about your Beetle, but in this I have tried to pull it as far back as possible, and it's still not bearable for me to drive more than 10 min.s at a time ..

When it comes to drilling new holes, the guy who will be doing it (IF I do it..) is a certified "blikken slager" (english word?), well he does these things daily and has a education doing this. So I trust him :)
Besides, I did exact thing with my last car (Ford Fiesta) and the guy who did it at Ford said this was a normal proceediore (serious spelling probs) on a car ... shouldn't be a prob :D

haz

Well, some seats have some problems with sliding, you have to put your feet left to the clutch and press the seat back (hard) and it will slide slowly. I am 190 and I don't even have the seat fully back

jealous @ Jos ...

hey, I pm'd you just now ..

haz

ok you guys, I'm going to pick up my Beetle now, I'm sooooooooooooooo looking forward to it .... !!!!!!!!!

Will most definately be making some movies for you guys ...

haz

Sweet!!! Enjoy this, and capture it on photo, this moment will always be brought up for you whole life, make sure you can always look at it again!

Good luck, have fun and drive safe!

If blikkenslager is the same as in danish it would make him a plumber ;)

 jos, you were always so good with words

I agree, it's strange to think about. It's like you say, I will remember that moment for the rest of my life  :D

Using a bug in the winter :D, Well extreme sports come in many forms...

I don't know if you can use wider winter tyres, but why would you want to? Narrower (is that a word?) tyres are better in the snow as they are less likely to "float" and will dig in better.

Also some past experiences from my wasted youth, Be ready to make some creative riggins to keep your windscreen clear in the cold!! Remember, the warm engine is in the back and the windscreen is all alone at the front... With the temperatures you get this far up in the north you better have some pipes leading hot air from the engine to the front (this is what a few of my mates did when they had beetles).

edit: on a personal note, Yey I broke the 1/2 K post count!... Slow but steady progress

Plumber is "r?rlegger". A "blikkenslager" works with sheet metal (I don't know the english term :( ).

Yes! another KaferPerson! my car's top speed is also 140 Kph, but not long ago, I saw close to 150 kph, it was scary! but anyway, it is starting to get cold and my kafer's battery is suffering a bit, and it's time for new oil this weekend! yeah, that's my update.

no way in hell I'd even TRY to reach 120 with a car like that, let alone 150

My car does 120 and it's not scary at all. I bet you've never driven one?

werent they intended to go a bit over 100 in the first place.

My type 181 even feels good at 115, and stock it barely would hit 85 stock. aerodyniamics on that are a mess.
