Thought I'd freshen this old thread up with some pics on the beetle, it's amazing how it changed. (Btw, if anyone wonders what type rims those are: Porsche 2.0L full chrome, originals ;))

Very nice Haz! I know I've not been around on here much lately, but I've been wondering whether you still had the bug or not!

I Should probably post some piccies of my little baby sometime too (The MR2)...

One of the nicest late beetles i've seen. Good thing you didn't get a fat chick 1302

BUmpiNG OlLd Th3eads...ZOMFG TEH L0CKZORZ!!111!!!111@

Serious that car looks so awesome, haz. Good on ya! There is a show in the US call "Little People, Big World" that is a show about a family of little people living day to day. The dad loves Bugs and in the last episode he had this sick look one with a chopped roof line that came down at the front. It was sooo aggressive looking

I love the roofrack, and the chamber. You have good taste!

This thread makes me depressed...

Because as haz probably know, I have a Beetle as well, it's a 1973 VW 1300 S with a 1600 engine, pretty much exactly similar to haz'. Except under a thick layer of dust covering it's orange paint the rear brakes are basically like crackers, so is the exhaust, wheel arches and sidesteps. The tires on the other hand are a bit like granite... It has been standing in the same spot in the barn since 1986, but apart from that it's fine...

The reason this thread makes me depressed, is because I just can't get my lazy ass out there and fix those small things...

Thx, that means alot coming from a person who obviously knows what he's talking about :) 1302 are probably the least liked bug every made, and no one buys them on the used marked...

hahah.......sry dudes! But I didn't want to start a new thread just because my beetle is done. Took me long enough too though :) hehe..

Thx! It cost me ?100 and you don't see too many late beetles with "resto" add-ons like a roof rack. But I like to combine styles so...

I'm probably most satisified with the Porsche 2L wheels from a Porsche 914 that belongs to a buddy of mine:

My inspiration for my beetle came from this late looker, I now have on the same rims only mine are "all chrome" (and are originals, which is iompossible to come by)

Thread moved into the new section for posting your car :)

Looking good Haz!! :D Last time I saw pics of it, it was covered in snow and ice

yea, I don't use it winter time any longer... :)

I put on some 175 55 R15's for the front wheels, so the car has more ground contact in the front. It will be hightened in the back again me thinks, for that legendary "ass up, nose down" look.

What do you guys think?

leave the rear down as well

sideskirts should be level with the ground (like it is on the pic)

Yeah i say leave the suspension alone. I hope to be getting my own air cooled VeeDub (Karmann Ghia ) within 2 weeks (crossing my fingers). The only thing i would change about your bug is the roof rack. I think the cleaner look is the way to go but if its serving you a purpose go ahead and leave it.

yea, I hear you guys, but let's just "think out loud" here before we decide:

ass up - nose down:

linear wheel to wheel (too low though)

What thinks?

When it comes to the roof rack - it really belongs to the "resto" style, and as I'm moving more and more over too Classic Cal Looker and with the mix of Late Looker - it might be gone, but I like to think I have created my own style here.
