COSSIE! :D

What's the deal with R34 Skylines anyway? I don't think you can import them in to Finland either.

legalization of a cossie last i checked is around 25K. The RS6 Avant was 40Kish. either way until i can get my hands on a GTiR or a Delta Integrale HF i can't say i am super interested.

What's so expensive if they are already legalized for importation (is that a proper word?;)).

Hahaha, if you want a GTiR, move to Canada!

yeah you guys have what a 15 year rule? I can't believe i have to wait another 10 years before i can get a 1993 323 GTAe while you can get them next year. They will all be gone by the time i can get them

in order to import a car to the US it has to be inspected by the department of transportation. part of that inspection is crash testing. the cars on that have have already been crash tested so that the government knows what needs to be done to each imported car for them to be able to meet the US safety standards. Those modifications are the part that gets expensive.

Everyone in the US should thank Mercedes-Benz. They are the asswipes who convinced the nhtsa/epa that if people by their own accord decided to import a non conforming vehicle they were going to kill the rain forest, rape innocent Mormon children, and the driver/owner would die in a firey death.

WTF ever happened to "land of the free?" Why the fuck am I not free to choose to drive a car which only has a 4 star crash rating?

The lists the government posts only say what can be legalized. You still have to pay someone to legalize it. And since that someone had to spend the money to research how to (complete with crash testing to prove it's a proper "fix"), it gets expensive.

Last I looked there was a company in Torrance, CA importing Cossie's for a total $60k out the door, with the shitty $ value it's probably higher now.

lol, no. but I thought pretty much everyone knew this stuff thanks to the motorex fiasco. R33s have been the only ones legal for import for road use for some time.

Our government makes so much sense it scares me. They won't let us import cars because they don't think they are safe enough. Yet I see lots of cars everyday that, even from just looking at them, I can tell they're unsafe. Broken headlights, obviously ruined suspension, badly dented, rusted, missing turn signals, tail lights, ect. But their owners can get away with it because the government, who is obviously very concerned with safety as we're discussing, doesn't bother to inspect cars already on the road for just such a thing. o_O

THIS place is saying 17-30k depending on age and what not

Yeah, but how would Americans react to a US version of MOT? All the homeless folks by default would have to walk or take the bus.
