I HATE EVs because...

Ah, FUD the thread...

It doesn't matter what kind of car you buy COMPUTERS WONT EXIST IN THE FUTURE!

Aka "I'm worried I might fall in love with my car, and it scares me." Or, "I gave my car female pronouns, and I'm afraid it won't fall in love with me when it becomes sentient after I wish upon the star I bought from that Star Registry, because it'll be lesbodesian."

My favorite is the old people in my life, *cough* my mom *cough* , I ain't going to learn how to drive again. I am not going to plug it in and watch it. There are other excuses too, but it all gives me a headache.

My dad used to refer to hate BEVs and write them off as wheeled flashlights or toys etc. Until we (my brother and I) dragged him kicking and screaming into the driver's seat of a Tesla Model S back in 2013. He ordered one the same day after the test drive, and hasn't looked back since.

Hasn't looked back because he got BLINDED BY SISSY LIBERAL SCIENCE!

"And where do libtards believe electricity comes from? Coal and natural gas, duh! You have petroleum to thank for everything you have. EVERYTHING!"

"They don't pay nothin' in gas taxes, and they cause more wear on the roads!"

^^ I like to troll those (Norwegians with a "school of life" education) who ask that question by just posting a picture like this as a response:

That either shuts them up, or sends them off on a tirade of whatabautism, where they usually start talking about wind power, which they hate intensely and with a passion.

You damn kids don't know hard work with your coding and programming. Back in my day we punched at rocks with our bare hands till they were bloody stumps and we liked it!

I love when the anti-EV crowd bring up mining all those things needed for an EV, yet they look right past the facts that mining is needed for all cars. They will deny any rare earth minerals get used in an ICE vehicle, but they do have computer chips and alloys. Nevermind pointing out that to remove lead from fuels, cobalt is used and can't be recycled once that happens.

Note there was that one guy who did say gas or electric car owners are doomed to die in a post-apocalyptic hellscape that apparently he believes is inevitable.

Electric cars are death traps DEATH TRAPS!

"ongoing maintenance" because that's so much more with EVs

You'll never find a charger NOBODY WANTS EV CARS!

There are so many EV cars you'll have to wait hours at chargers!

These are the same people who are terrified of nuclear power. They don’t understand it’s just boiling water like a tea kettle.

It's not the boiling water part to be worried about.

I have to admit it's fun when owners of coal-rolling diesels from the stone age suddenly become environmentally conscious just because it's about mining minerals for EVs.

Or better still; how many of them who suddenly has sympathy for children subjected to child labour has they have heard that cobalt mines in the Kongo are bad. While at the same time not realizing how BEV-manufacturers have become transparent about their value chains and giving out guarantees for how their materials come from suppliers following strict ethical rules.

To put the cherry on the hypocrisy cake, they completely turn the blind eye to where Big Oil gets all the kobolt they need to desulphurize the diesel they are burning to roll coal. As a rule of thumb, a diesel car requires about as much kobolt as a similarly sized BEV over its life span, with the difference being the kobolt can be recycled from the BEV's worn out battery pack, while the kobolt used to desulphurize fuel is lost.

Quick question on that: how many batteries, do you think, a) need to be repaired (in what kind of time frame) and b) actually do get repaired instead of recycled or re-used (with potentially lowered capacity)?
To me, this is simply not a relevant issue at all...
Sometimes all of the them:eek:
