I hate how my chances of ever driving one, or even looking and sitting in one, are almost close to nil.

I need a hug...

That's ok, they just rust like every other car any way.

well they dont but never mind

I'm guessing some do atleast. Besides, I was just trying to console the dude ;)

You live in NY, there's gotta be some rich dudes around there. People with sweet cars are usually pretty good about giving rides to people. As long as you ask nicely!

Even if I could find someone to let me drive their car, I won't be able to drive in New York City itself (not legally anyway); you can't drive in New York City with a Class DJ driver's license, but you can drive in the rest of New York State (I have a Class DJ driver's license).

You have to turn 18 in order to receive a Class D New York State driver's license. My birthday is in November. Unless I take a Driver Education classes, I can't get a New York State Class D driver's license until November. Driver's Education is not cheap either; it's about $450-$500 for the whole course. Even if I had the money to go, there aren't any local high schools or parochial schools that have Driver's Education.

Yep, my Catch-22. Damn these stupid New York State driving laws.

You shouldn't drive super/hypercars if you are unexperienced anyway...
And you are really young, so maybe one day you'll get your shot or be rich... Just study hard...

i am quite happy with seeing them on top gear or listening to their sound on the street...

in the end, any car can deliver fun, even the crappiest one. and there are lots of hot hatches or roadsters whch are affordable and deliver just as much fun as any supercar.

I don't want a supercar. They're just for rich people who're worried that regular people might not notice how rich they are.

I could live with a Sylva Riot ($4200 kit car) for thrills and a Saab 9-3 for comfort & practicality. Although I'd prefer an Ariel Atom & Mazda RX-8 combo.

I guess that is subjective, but i know a F430 would give me a big deal more fun than a GTI. The sound, the huge push back in the seat, the feel and experience in it self is just something you will never get in a GTI. If you look at all the aspects of owning a supercar, with costs, road bumps, constantly worrying about the speed, not beign able to park carelessly in the street and so on it might be a different story.

You will never hear such a phrase from a rich guy. So you are probably not a rich guy then.

And to the threadstarter: Get yourself a girlfriend. Sex will chance your perspective about supercars. In a good way.

Greetings, lip

You'd might hear Ingvar Kaprad say it. And no, I'm not rich :p Although I hope and believe I'll keep my opinion if I became so one day.

this is close to that topic JC put up on the top gear site on how its pointless to dream about something youre never gonna have. you better read it. it puts somethings nto perspective.

Yeah, you'd be so worried about scratching it or people touching it or shopping carts bumping it in the parking lot that your stomach would be full of ulcers. The fun would be sucked out.
