I need a firewire card..

I need one for my digital videocamera.

I have no knowledge about them but I need a cheap one +cable of course.

It's only for putting the video on my computer to share and on DVD to save the space on my Hard Disk.

I don't even know in what section to look on www.tweakers.net ... :lol:

Could anyone give this noob some advice on what to buy and what not?

Oke so I went to the MNM website, they have this:

Conceptronic PCI card witg 3x Firewire ports. ?15.95
And a cable: DigiConnect FireWire Cable 1.8 m (4 Pin-Male-4 Pin-Male) black. ?4,95

I didn't think it could be this cheap. Total of ?20,90

Now should I order this you think?
 
check the cable if it fits to your cam (usually you'll need a small + large connector cable)

edit. and yes i think you can order that card :)

That is what I have, is that cable good enough for those sockets?

I'll wait with ordering untill I know I can order both. Saves me postingcosts.
 
one side has to be small (camera) and the other large (card)

Well I assume that the cables on the site are like that. The only difference in those cables are length and color.

So I'll just order them both now. Thanks for the help Fluke. :thumbsup:

Yeah, might be a good idea to get a motherboard with firewire built in. I got one that didn't and with all of the firewire cards I've put in there, none of them seem to be able to upload the data to the digital camera with any form of consitency... guess I have to send back the motherboard to the manufacturer and see if I can't get a new one...
 
Well....I wanted a cheap firewirecard, can you give me a cheap (like very cheap) motherboard?

I'm not gonna spend alot more than 50euros for a piece of shit (computers in general)
