Idiots + cars = LOL

Interesting follow-up to the ass speeding around Beverly Hills in the LaFerrari... Dude appears to be Quatari royalty and to have fled the U.S.

Qatari sheik sought in L.A. streetrace may be in Vancouver

The owner of a Ferrari recorded speeding through a Beverly Hills neighbourhood last week has been linked to a hotel in Vancouver, B.C.

Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar left the U.S. Thursday, police said, after a video surfaced of his bright yellow, 12-cylinder LaFerrari and a white Porsche racing on narrow streets and blowing through stop signs.

Police officers investigating reports of reckless driving found the Ferrari, which is valued at approximately US$1.4 million new, parked in a driveway.

A man believed to be Al Thani told officers that the car was his, but denied speeding or driving recklessly.

Police said he also told them he had diplomatic immunity, but that is unlikely, according to Police Chief Dominick Rivetti.

On Sunday, CTV Vancouver called the luxurious Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, to see if the sheik had checked in.

Hotel staff proceeded to connect CTV Vancouver reporter Jon Woodward to a room where they said Al Thani was staying.

"Is this Mr. Al Thani's room?" asked Woodward.

"It is. Can I help you?" answered a woman.

Woodward questioned the woman, but she said she knew nothing about the L.A. Ferrari incident.

Hotel staff insisted that the call was connected to the right room and there are a couple of rooms registered under his name.

A private jet that arrived in Vancouver on Thursday has also been connected to Al Thani.

The plane is registered in Bermuda, where some of Al Thani's fleet is reportedly based.

Vancouver police say they don't have jurisdiction in the case.

Not a massive idiot but either he has a rusted exhaust and can't afford to fix it despite driving a Maserati or he actually got it done on purpose.... I thought that thing was a diesel...

I just wanted to add that this Maseratti probably has the sports/loud exhaust turned on, otherwise they are not too bad when idling.

I'm guessing since it's at the dunes, Rams don't jump...

It is just kneeling down to take a break... oh, that's not gone well.

Probably an electronic valved exhaust and this guy pulled the right fuse so it's always open.

Well not idiot per se just spectacular

Wow.

Oh look FWD understeering....

That looked more like lift-off oversteer than understeer.

Might be a mixed case of the driver error and poor timing. He/she was definitely going much faster than the camera car. My guess is that the driver attempted to move over to overtake or slow down at the exact moment the car was cresting the hill (maybe even caught some air?), which unbalanced it and caused it to slide sideways and the driver failed to catch it.

:dunno:

Don't worry, people who haven't been on the ring know more about it than those have anyway.

This. Also, at Schwedenkreuz, I'd definitely rather have save understeer than oversteer...

A car hitting grass on the inside of the turn making the rear end come around. Textbook understeer.

He looks to be going quite straight at the wall after hitting the grass...

I would think neutral steer is better :tease:

Still waiting for the day one of the Ringmeeters will have an accident there :p

Uhm... really? What does this have to do with FWD?

I don't really need to go there to know that it's by no means easy to drive, video games paint a good enough picture, I don't think I ever completed a lap on there w/o crashing a couple of times.
