Idiots + cars = LOL

How can people so moronic hold driving licenses...

Also: what an idiot..

Just a glance shows me the guy is:

1 - In the wrong lane.
2 - Being impatient behind a car with freaking "L" plates.
3 - Attempting to overtake on a roundabout, which is daft at the best of times.

I find it amusing he was so sure he was in the right he posted a video that proves he was in the wrong!

The really funny part is the (currently) 31 pages of what one assumes are experienced British drivers all disagreeing with each other as to how a roundabout works or is supposed to work. If nobody agrees on how the damn thing is supposed to work, how is this superior to a four way intersection again? :p

If I saw a Corsa with Astra VXR Nurburgring stripes on it, i'd have to get past him too... though he was clearly in the wrong.

Not really sure where to post this so:

I was headed down the freeway earlier and came up behind one of those Smart cars. Just as I was thinking about passing her (she was doing maybe 62-63mph) a semi drove past her on the left, and the resulting wind sort of swept her all over her lane to the point I thought she was going to lose it.

I went ahead and passed her on the right, and as I looked over to see who it was I saw a look of pure terror on her face.

I know I really shouldn't laugh, but Jesus, If you're that terrified to be driving any car on the road, you need a different car lady!

That's nothing, you should see a Smart, when you pass it with a Mercedes GL at 230 km/h on the autobahn...

Did you ever chase chickens as a kid? That's how it feels

I've gotten that same terrified look when passing not-so-Smart car drivers on my motorcycle on the freeway. And I'm not generating a significant aero wake in that case. Apparently they're afraid of literally anything at that speed.

One of the best parts of driving my F350 is watching the wake mercilessly shove around cars that shouldn't be on the highway like Mitsu iM-a-morons and Dumbs.

Fewer points of contact, smoother traffic flow, etc. Just because some people online can't figure it out or poorly express themselves doesn't mean that it's a flawed idea. You should see some of the crazy intersections UDOT comes up with to avoid a much simpler roundabout that would solve their problems and create uniformity in the road network.

You should see the roundabout on 8th ave here 4 lanes of NYC traffic, talk about a clusterfuck :p

I will drive my (mythical) i-MiEV where I damn well please, thanks much. :p

But seriously....Mitusbishi....bring over a gas model with great mpg and a low sticker price...please?

If Smart is anything to go by, that formula isn't easy to pull off. See also Fiat 500, which has taken what little market there is and still isn't doing great.

But the I is practical, with "real space for real 'muricans!" There's seating for 4 or 5 with extra cargo space and stuff.

:| wow that sounds like a line that would be used in a compact car ad from the 70's/early 80's.....Mitsubishi should use this in their ad and immediately place a check in the mail for a gazillion dollars.

No, it's not and no it doesn't.

FTFY. :p

They're not the one perfect solution to everything. Just like any other tool, they can be overutilized. But they're a tool that is significantly underutilized in the US, and that's a shame.

I never claimed they suck just saying that the one I mentioned is a nightmare

Most roundabouts were designed in the 40s, 50s and 60s when there was much less traffic (and when the UK had its last major road restructure), because there were no traffic lights or anything it helped keep a steady flow of traffic. Now-a-days there is so much more traffic busy roundabouts can be a nightmare.

The silly thing is that (most) roundabouts are fundamentally very simple and easy to use but so few people know/remember how to use them properly it is impossible to negotiate them properly because you can't be sure when somebody will do something stupid.

Don't know about Texas, but around here people can't even figure out whose turn it is on a four way stop sign.
And even cops can't seem to be able to figure out what the correct lane to be in is. (In other words, people can't ever drive properly on a straight piece of road).
I'd expect a good chunk of drivers would mess up a roundabout so badly that it would end up in a crash.

Having said that, I was surprised to see a roundabout in Iowa on my way to Chicago. (No traffic on it though.)

Now-a-days there is so much more traffic busy roundabouts can be a nightmare.
If a roundabout is not the proper size for the amount of traffic, it can actually make things worse than having a four way stop intersection or a normal intersection with traffic lights.

BTW, the guy is wrong, but you have to take out the markings from the equation... They are confusing at best and seem to suggest that you can actually only take the first exit of the roundabout if staying in the leftmost lane.

Also, the learner's car seems to actually doing quite right (at least legally), but I think staying left (in this case) when you actually want to go right, and using no indicators at all is not a smart move.

I agree. They installed one off of Grener Rd out in the area where the new Casino is going. I've almost been hit twice because someone had no idea what to do there....

Now if you are an idiot who don't understand roundabouts like the man driving into learners cars above, you obviously already have a camera. But if you don't (and/or drive a Miata), here's a FinalGear Bargain Tip!
