I'm sure we all dream of a car brand of our own, so what would your very own car be?

I, myself would build a light, low-price roadster, with a transversal mid-engine and gearbox from either VW or Saab+Getrag. It would have the propotions and basic design of the Toyota CS&S concept http://www.mcarsweb.com/toyota/cs&s.jpg but with the grille of a classic Saab http://www.saabklubben.com/arkiv/96/9671.jpg and the spectacular doors of the Koenigsegg http://www.fantasycars.com/derek/cars/images/koenigsegg/cc_4.jpg. The chassis would be a carbon fibre and/or aluminium monocoque with practically identical front and rear subframe and suspension to keep the production costs down. Active shocks, no powersteering. Retro dash, like the Mini, but less plastic.

I'd basically have an Elise with a BMW straight 6 engine with one of those Audi DSG trannys and japanese electrics. And it would have to be race prepped but not totally undriveable on the street. So, basically would be carbon fiber all around except interior which would have to look nice but not overcomplicated and heavy.

?ber fast!

I'd take a Big ole 69' charger body, Dual V10's one up front, one in the back. Of course it would have all the trick bits, Carbon fiber body, and such.

I'd try to put that v10 diesel monster found in the touareg and try to build a sports car around it.

Something different :)

Elise with a 2.0L saab engine tweak to 9-5 aero output. Might very well fly.

98+ Camaro SS with a 450 horse naturally aspirated LS1, new IRS, basically reworked street/track suspension, lowered a couple of inches.

That would be a killer car.

a smaller RX-8 with a bit more power and only 2 seats. Well a kind of new RX-7

I'll just want a facelifted RX-7 with a more reliable engine and maybe more power

I would definately build a GT car. I'd probably do something similar to Mosler's MT900R. Use the basic proportions of a Corvette C5, have a race tuned LS1 or similar large displacement (7.0) V-8 engine mounted midship. Carbon fiber etc, etc, because it's a GT car.

Road going version, I'd detune the engine a bit, but offer a supercharged version that'll have two seats, and all the creature comforts to make the ride enjoyable.

Though my current idea (one that I've been entertaining recently) is a small fastback coupe powered by a rear mounted boxer 6 engine, all wheel drive, sugar scoop headlights, two seater, some basic creature comforts, enough to make it enjoyable, but not a whole lot to weight it down. Seeing as it's road going, I'd probably use aluminum alloys and fiber glass to construct the car (but hey, maybe a limited edition carbon fiber model).

My formula would be: mid-engined, NA V12, center driving position, less than 1000kg, and incorporate the best technology and materials available to create the best driving experience (to my own personal standards)

Sound like a McLaren F1 except for the fact that it must be light. This is one thing that the F1 failed in achieving even though they set out to do it.

I'd have both a GT and hardcore version--one with creature comforts and the other one a bare bones track car.

I'd have a 92' Volkswagen Vanagon syncro body with a twin-turbo V8 in the back, Porsche 4wd drivetrain, custom independent offroad suspension, a lightweight camper interior, police sirene and a big fucking loud hailer to shout people out of the way as I race across the globe.

Yeah 8)

Ever heard of John Lingenfelter? Check out Lingenfelter Performance Engineering - www.lingenfelter.com

As for me, it would be something to rival the Pagani Zonda...V8, 10, or 12..doesn't matter...probably boosted, I'd steal the central driving position of the McLaren (LOVE that idea)..everything else.

so why dont you guys build such cars? (im talking about the realistic ones :p ) ive seen plenty of people that do just that. get an audi 5000 transaxle + adapter plate + supercharged LS1 and you get a 730bhp mid mounted engine setup. add a chassis of your choice and you can kill just about anything out there.

theres a 350 chevy with an audi in a custom chassis. who says kit cars are all wannabe sports cars?

old Cobra with modern engine, nothink special, or smoethink very light using high tech technology, or trying to deeveloped sport car with low price

There's this whole money problem. That is, I don't have any, and I'm not making enough to affoard making any killer cars.

50/50 weight balance midmounted rear wheel drive motor with plenty of stick maybe a turbo 2.6L V6 or the V8 out of the M5.... tho to keep weight down i suppose a 13b or a 20b would be a good plan as well....

E34 M5

Oh....make your own jobbie....

I'd probably go for a Lotus 7 chassis with a highly-strung BMW straight-6 shoehorned in. Doesn't have to be big, 2.3 or 2.5 would suffice.

lamborghini is already testing a touareg powered gallardo.

as for me i would pretty much take a subaru impreza gc8 http://airworld.hp.infoseek.co.jp/impreza_wrx/images/wrx988901.jpg

run either a sequential turbo system or single turbo and anti lag system ,optimize the weight distribution for perfect 50/50 balance, optimize suspension and differentials for as close to neutral steer as possible

have fun changing your turbos after every race you enter or after a day or driving....
but to be honest, I would do the same for a GC8, my cousin has the exact same car Subaru Impreza RA... I will get some pics up as soon as it comes out of the workshop.... it is waiting for a Autronic ECU and some interior work in the workshop
