EDIT: Nevermind I fixed it 
. I just set the resolution of my screen to 800x600 to see if illustrator's window was visible at that size, and it was. I then moved it out of screen, and then changed the resolution back again to 1680x1050. Fixed it. Sorry about that, reporting the post

So basically I was downloading this file from colourlovers.com (where you can download color palletes and stuff for non artistic people that need major help matching colors like me).
And I set it in firefox to "open with illustrator". Sounds good right?
Window was shoved to the left, maximized, and is now neither resizable nor minimizable.

Edit: Btw yes I've tried the trick where you press F and it changes the way the window looks and it works that way but it's a bit uncomfortable and I'd much rather like to get the original window mode back
