I'm going to SF to pick up the F430 right now!

Now, now...don't let your ego get the best of you...like I probably did.

^ Not at all - it's a good post. Your Dad's worked damn hard to be in a position to have a car like this.

As for LeMans GTR - yeah, tone down the ego a bit young fella :)

Er yeah sorry about that, it was only a bit after my birthday and my ego rush hadn't faded yet, but now it has so I'm back to my more mellow and vunerable self.

@ Madcow

It's pointless arguing with you so here goes,

You wouldn't have been as anoying if you made just the one post because most of your posts in this thread just repeated yourself over and over again which is why it would be better if you just kept it to the one post............. please don't flame me. (runs into bomb proof bunker)

I don't want to clutter Jacobfox's thread any more then necessary, but I'm curious.

Have you ever owned a car with a manual transmission? Because you don't sound like it.

Automatic trans. are still quite rare in Europe. So yes.
When driving fast I dont mind having a manual, sometimes id even prefer it, but most of the time its just tiring, especially if you live in a big city. When driving faster its true that you lose a bit of the feedback from the engine and the tires but sportier cars with sequential trans. usually have a very direct steering and a good chassis so in the end you dont really miss it at all. You feel pretty much everything thats happening to the wheels in corners on the gas pedal and on the steering wheel. Plus you have more time to focus on the driving.

... Plus you have more time to focus on the driving.

Using clutch IS driving.
It's not even so much about feedback, as it's about in what extent you want to do everything manually. I don't object to such things as ABS or power steering (although this is not always needed in light cars), because it doesn't change the experience.
But removing one pedal and a gearstick simplifies things alot.

If you only care about laptimes and 10ms gear change times, or if you feel like gain from more relaxed daily driving is overweighting the enjoyment from those rare perfect moments, then sure, paddles is the way to go. And no, there's nothing wrong with it obviously, and I'm not criticizing here. I'm just backing up my point, which is: some people prefer manuals, and there is a reason for it. Also I find it odd that most of the supercar buyers aren't driven by same reasons...

Same goes for stability systems actually, but the problem is solved by using a turn off switch. You can't however bring the experience of driving a full manual by simply switching your f1-style gearbox from auto to manual.

I'll try not to write here anymore on this (off)topic, as it makes people nervous for some reason...

^ Precisely what I've been waiting for... hopefully some interior shots too!

By popular demand, it's picture time.
The front of the car.

The lights are Xenons with a little LED strip around them.

The car is surprisingly asymmetrical. The passenger mirror doesn't say F430 on it.

Shiny Muffler...makes a great noise and even says Ferrari on it.

The contents of the puny trunk: car cover, tool kit, tire sealer and compressor.

The driver's side intake.

The cleanest oil I've ever seen. Apparently it never turns darker than a barely noticeably tinge of yellow.

I find it funny that there's an emergency trunk release for a trunk you couldn't fit a midget in.

Another view of the engine, note the chassis rails to the right.

The engine bay...I love the red crackle on the valve covers.

The Audi S6 that also lives in the garage.

60th anniversary of Ferrari plaque, only 2007 MY cars have this.

That is a gorgeous F430. But there is something missing on the center console. It just seems so... empty there.

Just kidding. Got any shots of the S6? That's the one with the V10, right?

Stunning (and that's from someone who's not the biggest fan of the F430) - love the colour, and how can you not love red crackle paint? Yum.

Nice S6 btw - a great pair of cars.

The trunk doesn't look that small actually. I've seen someone fit inside one to show how much it can hold. Granted, that person was below average height (maybe 5'6").

God I just wish Chrysler would finally build the ME four twelve, nice Ferrari though bud, my sisters fiance is a rich bastard and just bought a Lambo Gallardo. When I went over to their house and saw it I was suprised, its WAY smaller than it looks on a computer screen, lol.

What's with Ferrari owners driving Audis as their daily driver? I met a guy at my local Ferrari shop taking delivery of his Enzo and he came to the dealer in his S8. My other friend (who's on the F430 waiting list) drives an A6. Hmm, guess I should start with an Audi :p

BTW, beautiful car. Open the windows and drive it at full revs through a tunnel. It's a life-affirming moment...I've done it in a 360 Spyder

The S6 is my mother's car. Basically, my dad traditionally drives his Ferraris to work during most of the year, except wet winter days and when he has to meet with city council officials about a project (or any other time when it would be bad form to drive a Ferrari). He's had a second car since he had a Maserati. First, it was a Mini Cooper S; this was replaced by a Lancer Evo 8 MR. But his back started to go bad partially because of the crashy ride of the Evo, so he did a straight trade in for an Audi A3 3.2 DSG. As he's been driving the Ferrari since he got it, I get to use the A3 most of the time. It's a really fun little car, though it is a bit more wallowy than the R32 which it shares an engine and platform with.

Great to hear he's using the F430 as a daily driver - makes a nice change from cars spending their lives under car covers.

He should have given the Evo to you, unless you've got something better in your stable that's yours.

Looks fantastic, I still love that color. Be sure to sneak it out on Friday nights and don't pull a Stefan Eriksson on it, mkay? :D

A white V10 S6? I'd take that over the F430.

I hope i said before thats a really nice shade of red, because if i didn't i was being a hipocret, sorry if i contributed at all to the ruining of this thread, although i think ive only posted about 4 times now in here :p

Jacob, if you get a chance can you take as many photos as possible of they exhaust system, and or headers? i like studying these things very much, and its hard to get good pictures on such rare cars

cut it out, these threads are like burnt popcorn, its no fun, but i can't stop picking away at them. For me those "perfect" moments are all about feedback, so to me power-steering can sometimes ruin a car, but i thought we were all done with making this thread a "my opinion about my theoretical ferrari" thread

On a happier note, its nice to know that there are still cars that inspire enough passion in people that they can erupt into such a emotionally charged argument, even if the arguing itself is tedious
