her name is Molly, and I've had her for about 3 yrs now. It started with Jostyrostelli from Holland (used to be a frequent member here), he got his and sort convinced me to get my own. And I needed a car for work so I started the hunt for good bug, I've even found the thread: http://forums.finalgear.com/post-your-car/i-bought-the-f-cking-bug-7000/ and it's basically unrecognizeable as it looks today.

just a small "mood-picture" from the garage:

The background for the restoration is basically rust, I used the car one damn winter and now you can hear it rust... seriously, I have been taking such good care of this car. But you know, 38 year old metal rusts ..

stay tuned :)

Are you restoring it (i.e. stock) or are you gonna make it actually good? :p

Looks like a nice project, but for the love of white jezus, pleeaase throw that muffler out.

that muffler is sought after and looks awsome when the car is complete with fenders ;)

The job itself:

(after the chassis is lifted off the floorpan, obviously)

- weld rust
-- weld canals (pic above)
-- weld front wheel arch (pic above(
-- weld on new "jackmounts" (see pic)

- replace left floor, due to too much rust and one big hole (see pic of replacement floor)
- restore right floor

- rewire the whole car (see pic...reallt looking forward to that bit...)

Good luck with it !!! :)

Haz!!! GREAT work! Love the fact you changed the rearlights, don't really like the big elephantlights, nice wheels.

Good to hear you still have the bug, and that you're restoring it! I can remember the talks we had about you wanting one!

Wish you all the luck in taking it apart, your drawing looks good!
