Because the country is falling apart because of all the crimes caused by illegal immigrants.

Ah yes. Should give up, just stand by and watch the country fall apart piece by piece.

I've wondered why the US has to be the savior to everyone. The US needs to concentrate on fixing internal issues before fixing everything else, or at least scale back foreign activity. Anytime we go into a conflict we lose money we dont' have, make more people hate our country, and usually lose lives of soldiers.

We seem to take care of/give money to many places that hate us. We give Egypt millions in F-16s recently.

Majority of countries have laws/strict restrictions on immigration. You are thrown in jail in most countries for illegally entering. Here we do nothing for the most part. Constantly see illegal aliens charged with horrible crimes, most of the time they can't even deport them.

Even though violent crime and overall crime in the US is near record lows.

And illegal immigrants are less likely to commit crimes according to various studies.

They are probably wrong though you know cause of liberals and shit. Except one is from the Cato institute.

Also the Obama administration has deported a record level of immigrants in 2012.

1.5 Million people in fact

It may be going down, just seeing Illegals that commit crime and can't be prosecuted fully can piss you off. Quite a few stories lately in NC of sex crimes with children involving Illegal Aliens. Maybe its because it seems many parts of NC has a high popluation of them due to mostly farming workers. But its a perception here that is wide spread.

I have cop friends locally that when they pull an illegal alien over they realize that pretty much nothing can be done. They can't be deported for things like no license/etc and you can't really write a ticket to someone who isn't in the system.

You can obviously be arrested for driving without a license.

Yes, you can be arrested. But they seem to not be able to deport them for it. And maybe state laws different on what can be done.

I know that all of my local cop friends are very frustrated on how little happens. Even if arrested they can put cash up for bail and dissappear without any real way to track them for future court dates/etc.

Just an FYI, "illegal immigrant" is no longer an appropriate term OFFICIALLY!

The AP drops 'illegal immigrant'

I won't add much right now, but later next week I can post my entire master's thesis (130 pages) on U.S. immigration reform.

I cannot really comment on anecdotal hearsay but the deportation based on being convicted of a crime that carries a sentence of more then a year is a federal law. States cannot deport an individual. They can arrest and detain an individual for ICE to deport them.

If they are arrested you have their face and fingerprints. If they are ever picked up for anything else then they are gone and will be deported. Maybe judges should set bail higher in cases like this so that a bail bondsman has to get involved. Its harder to run from a guy you owe money too.

Now the complaints of your cop friends could center around this rule change in December.

ICE remains committed to maximizing the removal of those who pose the greatest threat to public safety or national security. ICE will continue to evaluate its enforcement policies, operations and programs to ensure that they are focused on our highest priorities, making adjustments when necessary. On December 21, 2012 ICE issued a new national detainer policy restricting the use of detainers against individuals who have been arrested or convicted of minor traffic offenses or other petty offenses, helping to ensure that available resources are focused on apprehending felons, repeat offenders and other ICE priorities.

I can understand their frustration but the Feds resources are limited. And those resources will become more so as the sequester kicks into gear but you are probably 100% for that right? With limited resources target the people that look to pose an actual danger or have broken more serious laws.

That is interesting to say the least. I wouldn't call the AP style guide official except for uses directly related to the AP. I am sure many other news orgs or journalists just ignore it. Weird that they would make that change without a specific term to replace illegal immigrant with.

Is it at this point I bring up how expensive it is to keep illegals detained and the appaling nature of some of the facilities/meat storage facilities they're kept in?
