Did Iraq threatened anyone and needed to be paid off?
Saddam invaded Kuwait and after that you would think he would be ousted. He wasnt. He violated agreements thereafter and we failed to have them enforced or punish him for them. That led to the belief that he was developing WMDs or hiding them. Intelligence from numerous nations backed that theory.
We didnt find any but can you honestly say, based on his actions after the first Gulf War that he had no intention of acquiring WMDs or that he hadnt gotten rid of them before the second war?
No one wants to examine that possibility. Also what if it is found to be that N.Korea doenst have WMDs adn that it was a bluff on the part of Kim Jong Ill. Would Multilateral talks cease then?
