Im surprised actually.

Mainly because I didnt think Top Gear got such a wide audience in the States. I figured it had fairly low ratings compared to other entertainment programmes. Maybe theres just not that many non-US programmes to choose from over there?

Ha! I thought so. I didnt think that all of it was scripted.. All the making fun of people in the studio does not seem scripted at all - doesnt mean it isnt, it just doesnt seem likely.

But i don't think it's totally unscripted.. :)

Who finished second? Fifth Gear?

Congrats for the Chaps!!!!

Well deserved

Jeremy Clarkson goes to accept the award and promptly gets a custard pie in the face.

The show is definitly scripited in the sense they probably tell the presenters the specs. of the car and do some blocking (where to stand and move throughout some of the recorded presentations/reviews)

Here's a good way to tell if it's scripted or not though, at the end of each episode, in the credits see if it says "executive writer(s)", "assitant writer(s)", or "*anything* writer(s)". The more names, the higher the likeliness that it actually is scripted, seeing as it would probably take a decent sized group of people to make the presenter's reviews as interesting and entertaining as they are.

if you take a look at the bloopers of top gear that was in the video offer section about 2 weeks ago..

they keep screwing up there lines, and repeat them over.. and over..

so i have a feeling a bit of it is scripted.

Well done TopGear :D

Like someone else said, I didnt really know they had a large audience outside the UK (apart from us  ) so an international emmy was a surprise!

I'm happy they do script, it does come off quite nicely on air. But if they are scripting it, why do they make James May keep his mouth shut during the news?

there's a text somewhere on the net by a guy who went to the recordings, and he wrote that all the audience parts had to be done several times because they weren't laughing hard enough and what more

and each time they pick someone out of the audiance, it's sth special about them. or they by coincidence drive a ferrari, or just a daewoo matiz.
none of the audience they talk to have a normal car

What the fuck is this:

Code:
Non-Scripted Entertainment
Presenters: Chen Xiaonan & Morgan Spurlock
TOP GEAR
BBC Documentaries & Contemporary Factual for BBC2
United Kingdom

I really though Jeremy Clarkson presented the thing... I was wrong all of a sudden, the IEMMY has to be right... Right?
