Morning! New Canadian member here. Been a Top Gear junky for years, but have struggled to get into the "foreign" (non-UK) versions, mostly because IMO, the dynamic between the hosts feels unnatural and forced, to the point that it detracts from the show. But that's just me. :)

Been following the site for a while but have come to a bit of a crossroads in my car life, which I'll make up a thread to explain. Thanks for having me!

Hi everybody,
I?m a regular lurker in the TG UK section here, I decided to finally log in. I realized there?s gonna be a ringmeet at the N?rburgring and I wanted to attend. I?m situated in Bonn, Northrhine Westphalia, Germany.

My car history is quite poor: I started with a VW Jetta back in 1995. When the rear breaks scattered round a roundabout, i switched to a Starlet, followed by a 2CV and another Starlet. Than came two Fiestas, a horrible Peugeot 106 and a Renault Clio. Now I finally have a car that?s not embarassing to drive if you?re beyond 1,80m (6') tall.
That much about me, hope to see you all at the Ringmeet!

Hey - I'm Nathan, based in Australia. My daily drive is a Mini Clubman JCW, but I've also got a restored 1970 van, and a 60's van still on the way.

I'm a mobile games developer - you can check out my game BeerTrucker on the iOS App Store.

Nathan.

Nope, that's not just you. To be honest, I experience the same. :)

Hey everyone, I have been a member for a bit now and wanted to say hi. I saw the helmet on Hammond's Facebook, now that's a pretty cool deal. Cheers!

Hello, new to the site, I'm a longtime motorhead. Doing research on 1990 Miata with CA smog blues. Found a poster on the site with EXACTLY the same scenario I find myself in. Bought the Miata for my wife (I swear I'll hardly ever use it:) and proceeded to trick it out. Passed smog when we first got it and now it has very high NO readings and won't pass. Great performer and gets 30 mpg. Like to get up early and rip down Lucas Valley Road out to Pt. Reyes and back, my therapy. My other car is 1998 Volvo V70 T5 with the stock 5 speed, something of a rarity. On the other end of the weight spectrum from the Miata but she has the goods and is an excellent sleeper. Once you figure out the handling setup (exorcise the sick, sick understeer of FW drive) the Brick is Quick.

When I'm not driving or wrenching I geek out and do app development and play in the outdoors.

Hello! I've been on the site for a while, but never got to introducing myself! I've been a gearhead since I was born, thanks to living in the shadows of the Big Three!

But thanks to my not having any money yet...or a job, since I'm a full-time student, I got a used Malibu as my first and only car...for now. When I do get a job...in a few years, and pay of the student loans...hopefully a few years after that, I am getting myself a real car. We'll see what that is. Also, thank God for FinalGear!

Hey all.
Been on this forum many times and decided to finally sign up. Top Gear is the best car show in the world and I just had to join this community. Have a nice day

I want to mention that the "TG What's That Song?" forum is most excellent and very helpful.

Hi there,

Long time TG watcher (even back to the old format) and long time lurker/ downloader here. Recent whining on the episode reviews have led me to register so that I can actually reply to some of them.

Car history is pretty varied but with a definite Camaro fixation (currently own my 6th and 7th) also a fan of off road stuff and do a lot of desert driving. Cars have ranged from a 1.3 Turd Brown Austin Metro to a Porsche Cayman with plenty in between

:welcome: to FinalGear! New series brings some new faces :D

Have a look around and enjoy your stay :D

Some simple things to help you get started. Please note the location of the FAQ and Forum Rules. A quick read of those will mean you are less likely to be set on fire, drawn, quartered, beaten up and set upon before you even get started. That could be an understatement, but might at least save you from some of the more irritating gaffes that will induce the ire of others. Well, most others anyway. Might also save you being banned  Random posting and thread creating just to increase post counts will be  upon.

If you're having issues with the forums (ie the message boards), and have read the FAQ, check here first. It may have already been reported. Issues with the site (FinalGear.com) go here. Don't confuse the two, or the man who-shall-not-be-named will get all cranky. And you won't like that. We probably won't either.

If you're having issues staying logged in, remember to check the "Remember Me" check box under where you enter your username and password. This will mean that you don't auto logout.

If you want to test how things look, how functions work, whatever, there is a test forum. Others might respond to your tests because they are smart arses, or actually might be able to assist, or whatever. So don't be surprised.

Not-a-dudes, for a pink username, go here. Be prepared, there are some lovely persons of the male persuasion who enjoy welcoming the new girls on the block. Posting your pic in here will also draw attention. So be prepared. Apparently some of the guys have never seen a girl before. :lmao:

To edit your profile, go here.

For posting your cars, please read the rules first. Claiming ownership of what isn't yours is punishable. By flogging and then death. Then exposure to sunlight or consecutive viewings of the Twilight and all the Police Academy movies. And eviction. And whatever else can be dreamt up. Be mindful, some people around here have way too much time on their hands, and do lots of dreaming up.

Also, don't forget the search function before posting or creating new threads. Using more than three letters makes searching much easier. And please think before bumping really old threads! Necro-ing threads usually gets you nothing but red blobbies, aka rep. And no, don't ask about rep. Use the search function. Bitching about rep may also get you into trouble.

If you're new, and are posting, and wondering where your posts are, they could be in the moderation queue. We do this for your first few posts so that we're sure that you are a real person and not some bot. Depending on the business of the mods, it can take a day or two. So, as a certain Guide recommends, Don't Panic. For the same reason you can't immediately post with urls either.

Private Messaging is also not granted automatically to new users. You need to request here for it to be activated.

There are a number of groups that you can join. These are found here (User CP, My Settings (on the left) -> Permission Groups). The rules about joining are there.

There is an IRC channel. Put on some thick skin before you venture there first though. And armour. Maybe some mace too. It's dog eat n00b in there. But we can play nice. Sometimes. When we're asleep.

And if you have some spare change, you might like to treat yourself to an FG shirt or iPhone cover. They are most awesome. Or throw some coinage in the donation bin :D

Hello,

* looks around nervously, shuffles feet *

Just joined up so thought I'd drop by & say hello.

I've been watching Top Gear since the heady days of William Woollard, Sue Baker, Chris Goffey et al & am still glued to the telly every Sunday (when TG's on) for the antics of Clarkson & his gang.
I also love watching the US derivative - as and when BBC3 see fit to let us see it - and keep up to speed with Fifth Gear as & when.

I've had a love of cars since I received my first toy example as an ankle-biter millions of years ago & so I'm sure I'll be amongst friends here at FinalGear.

Look forward to catching up with y'all in the forums..

Cheers,

Dave. :)

Hi

I'm a car lover from Norway, I watch pretty much everything with cars in it, Top gear, Top gear US, Fifth gear, Best Motoring, Jaylenogarage on youtube, porn.

I have a 1992 Audi "ur"S4 Avant with the brilliant 2,2l 5 cylinder turbo engine(AAN engine code) and with the "Quattro" in the rear window defroster.

Also have a '95 Bmw E34 520 with a M50B25(NV) engine, which I did a short "road trip" in this summer , 1027km(638miles) in one day, love the sound of the N/A straight 6, even if it is more show then go, 191hp/240nm isnt that much when the car weighs 1650kg.

And last but not least a '91 Nissan 200sx s13 with the 1,8l turbo engine (CA18DET) which is not stock (big suprise I bet).

My absolute favourite thing to do is drive, just getting in the car and drive just for the hell of it.

now enough about me, lets get back to cars :)
