Is there a good PC alternative to GT4 and Forza?

Just wondering if there's any PC games out there that's in the same genre as these. That's big, good looking, decent handling, evolving (unlockables, progression, something like the GT mode) etc.

So far, I've only found hardcore sims (just DLed the LFS demo) and arcade racers (NFS series etc) but nothing quite like these. Any hot tips?

Actually, i was :p

I'm sure it's realistic and all, it's just too 'narrow' and quite possibly a tad too hardcore for the kind of game I want right now. I'm really after a game that lets me tune my own cars, go drifting in street/tuned cars as well as racing touring/gts (the dirt track option's always nice too for a change), and without sacrificing too much handling qualities, if you understand... Sort of like GT4 and Forza :p Though I guess I would have found it by now if such a game existed for the PC platform

I really like the way LFS feels (though is it too easy to drift/opposite lock in it?), though I long for more 'gameplay' and glossiness hehe. I could just get a whole bunch of different games, but sticking to one set of physics would obviously be preferrable, lol

More gameplay? You mean more Arcade? LFS has more gameplay than any other racegame...

Hmm I gotta admit I only played the demo yet of LFS, but it didn't look like there was much to it besides getting fast lap times on the few tracks? Also it's a bit graphically challenged to put it nicely, and the car selection doesn't quite cut... so yea I guess my perfect game would have some arcade elements lol..

I'm probably gonna check out the full version though, for my 'training' needs hehe.

So far I've gone through
Toca RD2 - Didn't work with my wheel (could only configure left OR right, not both...wtf)
FIA GTR - Too hardcore
NFSU2 - Interesting concept, rubbish drive.
LFS - Nice drive, bland gfx and style.

Grr someone mod NFSU to use LFS physics and add proper racing
:bangin:

The search continues.... thanks for the input though.

I agree about the graphics, maybe the sound too, butadd proper racing?

What did you do in LFS? Try to join a demoserver with real racers and do some laps.

Then tell us again it has no real racing.. :)

err.. that was NFSU that needed proper racing lol, not LFS ;)
LFS is all about proper racing, innit?

.. and I thought enthusia was for PS2 only? Looks pretty tight though...

WORD!

honestly your best bet is to go buy a used Xbox or a used PS2 and then forza or GT4 seeing as they are the 2 best "real" driving sim games with licensed cars and pretty graphics

TF

yeah the graphics have some context in terms of the game play. if the gameplay was that great how are menna enjoy it wihen u can see n e thing or everything is blurry

well... in LFS, the graphics arn't that bad, it is very playable, and once you start racing with people, you won't even notice the graphics anymore ;)

jason lfs graphics is quite decent if you put it to the max, turn on everything, put it to 32bit, and you wont be disappointed. but even though lfs graphics is not that "striking", the gameplay, realism, & racing feeling compensates for that small lack in graphic elements ;)

i still think its really crap compard to what there is in the market, it look like its from 3-4 years ago tbh. no shitting

hui u havent even driven a real car at speed, how do u know if its realistic. i really dont think some of the factors are correct/ they didnt even have a real car to do the measurments.

GT4 is alot more realisitc :
