Sometimes we can't help but lament the relative lack of touring car racing in North America. Sure, there are a handful of series, but they don't enjoy nearly the popularity that they do overseas, including in England (BTCC), Europe (WTCC) and Australia (V8 Supercars). Even the Belgian Touring Car Series is looking increasingly appetizing with some of the latest entries to join the field.

Following the release of the recent release of the Volvo S60 touring car, we've just received word of a purpose-built tin-top Jaguar XF, also destined for the Belgian series. The XF Silhouette racer is based on the same frame that underpinned the previous X-Type touring car, but reportedly benefits from some major upgrades, including (obviously) updated bodywork and a new 3.5-liter V6 engine. Driving duties will reportedly be undertaken by Albert Thirty, who debuted in the series earlier this year behind the wheel of the Kia Pro_Cee'd Silhouette racer. Thanks for tip, Bastien!

Oh my. Porn.

Looks nice.

Where do they race in Belgium to be able to have a touring car championship? Spa Francorchamps? Come to think of it, 10 rounds at Spa is no bad thing...

Great, now I'm nursing a semi.

inb4 spectre harrumphing about new jag and how the livery isn't as good as the old ones and the XJRs should be made for 1000 years

out of carbotanium

It's a mondeo with a bodykit, yeah.
That being said it looks pretty good, I still like the F1 Jag Racing livery more than this though. That metallic green was gorgeous.

mainly spa and zolder.

but occasionaly they have a race in france (dijon) and in holland (zandvoort, assen)

i hope there is some decent coverage, so i can follow it! (but most of the time coverage is unexisting or a hoot)

No. DTM cars are like NASCAR cars and SuperV8. Little is shared. Right now Jaguar doesn't make a petrol V6 for their road cars.

They do, but just not in the US.

I stand corrected.

The BTCS gets way too little attention! Come on TV-networks, pick it up! It must be cheap since nobody is broadcasting it! Come on Eurosport!

And there's BMW's and Toyotas and Seats and Hondas and Mitsubishis and Audis as well!

the wtcc should be really transformed into some kind of etcc. the constant travelling around the globe makees it utterly expensive and running on sub standard tracks in marocco or brazil doesn't really have much for fans or manufacturers. the last wtcc race in marocco was ridiculous...
if the wtcc ran only in europe it could be as awesome as the btcc, with as much manufacturers but a larger audience and a lot less costs than the wtcc now.

It's just a silhouette car, it's not actually really a Jag/Jag project.

This.

It's about as much of a 'Jaguar' as the thing that Tony Stewart climbs into in NASCAR events is a 'Chevrolet Impala'.

Silhouette or template racing is fine if you have lots of money and just want to boost sales - but unlike real racing, it has no payback in terms of R&D benefits for the production cars - you know, the cars that people can actually buy? The ones that are the whole point of running the car company?
