Jalopnik has gone down the toilet ver. 3.0

You and a few others may be on the toilet, but I would say a majority of your coworkers are down the pipes clogging toilet. Nevermind, the fact that I've since been shadow banned because god-forbid anyone defend what Alfa Romeo has built...

To be fair, so far we're still waiting to see if any modern Alfa is any longer lasting than prior efforts. :p

A full third of the comments on the article point out the exact same thing to one degree or another and he hasn't replied to any of them that I saw - so I don't know how much if any good one more person telling him the same thing is going to be.

I?m having a hell of a time trying to focus enough to write this blog post. In the past two days, I?ve driven 28 hours in a Jeep with a ride so viscerally jarring, even after I step out of that rusty tub, I can?t seem to slow my brain down enough to form cohesive thoughts.

I don't think he's going to address that specific post.

Let's be honest though, what modern European luxury car is long lasting once it goes outside of its warranty period?

There aren't that many, true, but they usually last until the end of the warranty period and a little beyond - BMWs usually don't start disintegrating until 80-100K, for example. Given Alfa's past track record, I'd wait to see until there's a significant number of them past the 4/50 mark in the US before pronouncing either way. Corporate parent Fiat's current electronics track record isn't so good in the US to date, for example.

Post up what you wrote to earn that ban so we can see for ourselves if it was merited or not.

I don't know what it was for exactly but I was unfollowed after this comment, which was a reply to someone else's comment that praised Tom McParland's writing:

I disagree, given his boner for Porsches and wishing failure to all Italian companies that sell products with wheels on them, most of his ?articles? are trifling garbage.

I don't think thats anything bad. But its their site, and they're free to ban who every they want..... but based on that its silly to do so.

I would point out that in all fairness there is a significant difference between wishing failure upon someone or something and simply *expecting* failure on the part of that person or thing (especially based on past performance). And you're not exactly known to be terribly discerning when it comes to that difference, especially on USDM FCA product.

Not that I disagree with you about his blind-fan-boi Porsche worship - or that his writing is quite overrated.

I have to agree with both of the above. I haven't read enough of McParland's work to know how much of Cellos' comments are rooted in reality (and let's be honest here, NO ONE has bigger blinders on for Italian cars than he does), but they don't seem ban-worthy.

I don't know, when you're a blogger that claims to be an expert on car buying and use isolated incidents that occurred on press vehicles (that were probably pre-production test mules) as evidence of a vehicle model's purported reliability, you're grasping at straws. There have been a number of incidents where reviewers encountered issues with the press cars they were reviewing and yet those barely get a mention let alone an entire "do not buy" article about them.

Instead, they feed articles saying "buy this Porsche or that Porsche" when there are dozens of open recalls on the majority of their current lineup. The double standard is just silly.

I have no problem with their shadow banning, they're free to do whatever they want because as it has been mentioned, it is their site.

Open Recalls:

17V054000
16V946000
16V680000
16V169000
15V717000
14V698000
13V502000
You said dozens. You found 7. That's still not good for Porsche, though. FYI those last 2 are for previous, not current models, bringing the number of active recalls for current models down to 5.

Why is that quote attributed to me?
I have no idea how that happened. Edited for correction.

Ok, 5 active recalls. Either way, no one is mentioning this at Jalopnikland.

Because we're not recallopnik, the mega-repository for all automotive recalls?

"Greyed" is the default for accounts. Blame the chunk of porn comments we got on the network a while back for why we don't automatically trust new accounts to behave anymore.

We have to manually follow you for comments to automatically be ungreyed, which isn't a measure of whether we agree with you or not, but rather, if you're generally civil and contribute good meat to conversations.

No, but you guys are "What sweater is Marchionne wearing this time to court Mary Barra?"-opnik.

Anyways, I was a "grey," then I was followed by you guys and Gizmodo, and then I was returned to the "greys" after my above comment. I was probably greyed for a combination of comments but either way, it's silly.

I don't know, I just find the favoritism and disdain for certain cars and car companies to be something that should be above an enthusiast car blog. Even a Yugo get's more love than FCA on Jalopnik.

Why are so many of you reading a shitty car blog if it is so shitty?

Force of habit. I don't want to go on Facebook but I do.

^ Quote of the day right here. Not because of its direction and context but more for the words themselves put in one sentence. LOL
