Be your own East-End villain in this totally lock, stock but not smokin' two-door XJ Jaguar. It's finished in Gold Sand (not as awful as it sounds, a sort of German Mustard colour) with a tan leather interior. It is currently owned by James May of Top Gear TV 'fame' (ie the other bloke).
This is a really nice car and not the usual rot-riddled piece of tat found in the small ads. It was built in 1976 and the owner took it to Hong Kong; documents pertaining to all this, including a letter of authenticity from Jaguar, come with the car. In 1992 it was shipped back to England and completely restored by Colborne Restoration Services at a cost of over ?17,000 and again, there is documentary evidence of this available. This restoration included a complete body-off rebuild, new chrome, engine overhaul and rust-proofing.
In 1997 the interior was extensiively retrimmed and the ignition upgraded to the electronic system from the Series III cars. Then, in 2000, some further improvements were made, including conversion of the air conditioning to modern R134 gas.
