Same thing I was thinking. I was expecting a Jeremy Clarkson around my age (26) but in the 80s, not practically the same Jeremy Clarkson as the first seasons of current Top Gear.
 
I don't think that's even old Top Gear, he drove the redesigned Mini in the first series of the current incarnation in 2002.
 
I see no difference. Seems like a chain-smoker alcoholic but very funny test driver back then.

It said 2001 at the end of the video so just before "new" TG.
 
There's an awful lot of this stuff actually. Just watched "Jereme Clarkson: Meets the neighbours" this morning.
