Not as extreme as that huge Palm Island housing/resort they are making there IMHO. That's a big engineering test and alot of $$$ wasted.

Back on topic though: that's a crazy lot of big buildings to build at once and so close together! There are a few apartment projects like that in Saudi Arabia which we used to house Kuwaiti refugees during Desert Storm. I don't know how tall they are compared to the new ones going up in Dubai, but they're still freaking huge! If I go by them again I'll try to snap a few pictures for you guys.
