Why do laptop manufacturers keep releasing widescreen displays?...

Is it just me that hate them?

I love my 16:9 widescreen lappy (they come in 16:10 as well)

its excellent for documents, browsing, irc, not games that much, but most games are Widescreen friendly now as well, also most tv shows are ;)

you get bigger keys, more palm resting space, but the downside is that they are wider and take up more space in that way.

Isn't it 16:9 instead of 16:10?
Yeh thats what I though...

Oh and yes I hate them too. We have one which we use on holiday etc...
Its so annoying finding a correct resolution wallpaper for it! Besides, I hate widescreens in general. Nothing beats the box.

i prefer everything but the pc resolution

have no idea what it is, but if a tv is rectangular, why does a pc screen have to be square? so annoying when watching tv on my pc

^^@SL65 Gonna have a hard time... Nothing is produced in 4:3 anymore.

16:9 all the way, most games offers some resolutions for that as well...

And for movies and series its gonna be perfect. Especially sine more and more 1920x1080/1200 display come out
I wanna have a 16:9 Digicam as well...

All of u that hate widescreens, try watching DVDs on your computers.

It's 16:10. 1680x1050, 1280x800, do the maths...
16:9 are the tv screens. They can do some 16:9, now, but the majority is 16:10.

I love the widescreens. I even went and got a widescreen for my PC.

Mine's a widescreen notebook. (16:10, although they should all standardise to 16:9!!)

It took a bit of getting used to, but I do like it.

Wide for all time. 15" Powerbook @ 1280x854... yeah, apple...

In TV I agree that you lose with 4:3, but not with laptops.
For me to have the same amount of info I now have in my 4:3 14" 1400x1050 laptop, I'll need a heavier 15" 1680x1050. The right part of the screen is usually empty, so why do I need to make it bigger? The only thing it will force me to do, is to put my launch bar on the side, so I can have a balanced viewing area.
I want a laptop computer, not a laptop movie viewer...
