Last movie you saw?

Unfrosted

A truly silly movie that will have you giggling like a kid.

I only caught a few scenes walking by, while working on something else, that seemed amusing enough I may watch the whole thing someday, but the "The ones that come, come for the goo" scene did make me chuckle.

Do TV movies count?

I did a nuclear bomb scare double-whammy with The Day After* from the US in 1983 and Threads** from the UK in 1984.

*I preferred this one in terms of a "movie" where there's more focus on the characters and the video quality made it look a little more modern. According to Wikipedia, Reagan "wrote in his diary that the film was 'very effective and left me greatly depressed' and that it changed his mind on the prevailing policy on a 'nuclear war'." This was presented more as something like a "cautionary tale".

*This one was definitely much, much more grim, and more grand-scale in its production. More involved settings and more extras, and the subject matter was grittier. This one was presented more as like a "worst-case-scenario PSA", complete with "This is your brain..." kind of narration, of sorts.

I think I might be on a kick of old TV movies for a little while. Probably Without Warning from 1994 next. That one scared the heck out of me as a young teenager. Maybe The Duel after that.

Might I suggest "The Last Chase"?

I have watched a bunch of movies lately. Here are some of the better ones.

Strays.

A fun movie with a lot of childish humor. Worth a watch when you want to regress to 15 for awhile. 7/10

Totally Killer.

A light(soft?) horror movie with some humor and nostalgia. It isn't terribly predictable like most horror movies. 7.5/10

American Fiction.

This is a drama with a solid story. Well worth a watch. 8.5/10

The Boys in the Boat.

A well done historical drama. A classic underdog story that won't disappoint. 8.5/10

Oppenheimer,

A historical drama that is well told. It is a long movie at 3 hours, but it is also well paced, and not in need of a trimming. And despite it being 3 hours long, I wanted to watch it again. 8.5/10

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,

A classic Indy adventure mixed with a young adult causing chaos (like The Crystal Skull, but much better). A worthy sequel to the series and well worth the watch. A solid 8/10

Meh on Oppenheimer and death to Nolan. Find everything he's done as close to trash

And now for something completely different: The Third Man.

It's been 20 to 30 years since I watched that last. And it's a bloody good film. Of course, a movie from 19fucking49 is a totally different experience, but this one really is awesome.
