dude if your school uses GIMP that rocks. Although it makes perfect sense given where you are.
Try adding some contrast and sharpening, pictures converted to b&w tend to look a bit flat if contrast isn't added, and even in colour your picture isn't that "contrasty". Besides that, looks nice composition and point of view are interesting.
I hope you don't mind, I tried adding some contrast and played with the curves a bit...we only have GIMP here at school and I'm not used to it, so I may have gone a bit overboard

I love GIMP for a lot of stuff, and removing it probably had something to do with it costing a bazillion dollars.I don't think it rocks, the whole program seems so illogical after photoshop/psp :? And we used to have Photoshop CS2 installed in a couple of classrooms, but for some reason they removed them. Dammit.
