Great photo Jay.

Amazing catch.

Is all the noise due to a very high ISO?

This is looking more or less straight down a 450 foot sand dune that is directly on the shore of Lake Michigan and at a 70 degree incline.

Took 20 secs to go down and 20 mins to climb back up. One of the most exhausting things I've ever done. My brother and I were stoping every 20 feet to catch our breath. Its crazy how hard it was to climb. You pretty much have to walk/climb on all four.

Where exactly is this?!

Yes. It was a very cold, dark June morning and that ladybug did not want to move.

Hi Jayhawk, that's a really great shot. I noticed that you tend to crop quite a bit in the work you do (not a criticism!) which does create quite a bit of noise. I'm not sure if you do or have considered using a noise removal tool of some kind. I have found they make a pretty huge difference and can see it benefiting some of your work. I have previously used Noise Ninja but didn't really like it too much and now use something called Noiseware Professional. I know it's cheeky but to show you what a difference these can make I quickly put that image through on default settings and these are the results:

Lightroom also has a noise removal setting.

Haven't given that a go to be honest (I only use LR for organizational purposes and a few very basic edits). Noiseware can make previously unusable images look fine. The D200 has quite a bit of noise at higher ISOs but I can now use anything up to 1600 and actually make it look pretty good at 100%. Like I said I haven't used the one in Lightroom but this has changed the way I take photographs quite a bit to be honest (I was used to going up to 200 or 400 if I REALLY had to). Here is a 100% crop with typically noisy dark areas using default settings again (not even heavy noise reduction):

Before anyone says it, I know this particular part isn't in focus :p .

I'd like to see that one with about a 3-second exposure to get the water nice and soft.

Remind me in about 4 years when I go back and I'll remember to take a Gorilla-pod and use a long exposure.

I literally went outside to the flower-bed and shot this after 15 seconds. The little guy was just sitting there waiting for me :)
