Not the most brilliant piece in photographic history, but one that makes me a bit proud nonetheless: after much try and error, a nice shot of the full moon, done with my D40 and the measily, plasticy 55-200 VR (quite a good lens actually ):
^ Yeah I know how you feel. Looks bland enough, but I was very happy when I got this with my 70-300 non-VR, handheld (and I have very shaky hands) whilst leaning out a loft window pointing the camera backwards over the roof Not as good as yours though
You have got to tell me how you did the post processing with the smoke...you took the saturation down, but I stuggle to see where that glowy look comes from...
First time I'm posting in this thread for ages. Did a reportage on the local plod last night, kept me for 11 hours with domestic disturbance cases and so on.
Well, here's the suspect going into the cell. Enjoy.

What's the best cheap/free program to use to organize and work with RAW files? Or should I just cave in and install the Nikon software that came with the camera?
I think the general thought is that Nikon's capture nx is the best to convert NEF, but it's not as good or comfortable to use otherwise. Adobe camera raw is a decent alternative, and it's the same engine in the Lightroom.
