The good thing about a more sophisticated body is that you have more buttons and less need to browse through the menus. So the
timer function for instance is done via the main dial (single shot, continous slow (selectable), continuous high (in my case 6 fps), timer, live view, mirror up. On the D80 I used the function key to temporarily switch from center weighted metering to matrix, but now the D300 has a switch dedicated to that entirely, so I use the Fn button for a little hack that allows me to take 9 frames @ 8 fps.
