Lens Flair

You can always crop :) 10MP should give you enough room to crop.

True, but we're both using D40s, so only 6.1MP. <_<

I used a 70-300mm Nikkor lens for that shot. I was about 5m down the garden, so to get a shot like that straight out of the camera certainly ain't bad. No cropping. I don't like that.

You got another lens too? Bah!

^ Ah no. I couldn't afford a D40. So I went on eBay, got a used (perfect condition) D50 with 18-55 and 70-300 lenses, a load of filters and other stuff. I reckon its all worth about ?500, but I paid ?300. :D I've even found out recently that the guy who had it before, was a professional photographer and had a photo come 3rd in the BBC's photograph of Britain or something.

Blimey! Nice find. I think I'll get on eBay meself and look for a used 55-200mm VR lens, I can't afford a new one at the moment... And I'm very impatient. :D

Fishy ftw :D

Most of the photos in here are amazing. I am a little intimidated to post in here because i have zero photographic knowledge. After getting some inspiration from this thread i decided to finally try some of the manual settings on my 6 year old fuji finepix point and shoot camera.

I'm a camera noob so go easy.

Well for a so called noob I'm impressed. :)

That photo is good, bit too much noise (or the resolution is low) and it's a shame that the sun got caught behind that thing. Overall though a very nice photo.

Now let the others disagree with me. :D

Edit: My photo for today, a bit more automotive orientated. Light courtesy of the sun and A4 paper taped to a board. Very little PP, just a touch of sharpening in PictureProject. :)

I think it is only a 3mp camera. Also it is old and cheap, maybe has a dirty lens or crud inside. :(
Also i did a little bit of autolevels and sharpen in ps which i think makes the noise worse?

Don't want to sound like a child, but i just like the colours. :p

^ Well its very good for a 3MP shitty old camera. :D Having a better camera would help, as I have recently found out :p

Biggest tip here is try to keep you horizon straight in shots like this. It looks really awkward slanted like this. I find myself tilting my head to see the photo.

Thanks for the kind advice. Now that it has been pointed out to me, the angle of the horizon looks terrible.

I sat the camera on a rock because i don't have a tripod but i will remember next time to get it level.

Ok here is my first entry into the LensFlair thread, I recently was in Florida helping a friend photograph a wedding. This is by far my favorite black and white. Shot on an old film Olympus SLR with 50mm lens.

I need to get a new tripod badly...I have an old junker one, but I was just barely poking myself out of my deck door :p. Went on my first storm chase this week (I'm completely nuts over big storms), been trying to get as many weather shots as possible.

I have a lot to learn for long exposure settings!

Well I tried to get some water splash shots today. I wanted to colour the water blue with food colouring, but we only have red, so that had to do. Not one of the best shots I've ever taken, but it's very hard to focus correctly. :( And ISO 800 doesn't help the image.
