Lens Flair

Nope, shadows retain FAR more detail in digital than highlights. For example, here's what you can recover from a shot 8 stops underexposed in RAW (12 bit vs 14-bit):

The shot was 90% black, yet a photo could still be recovered from it.

That's a pretty thorough test, nice to know. Another 'theory' out the window :lol:.

To be honest, that result isn't that great, the software has smeared the smoke a fair bit and it almost looks like painted smoke rather then real smoke.

I was only using a very low resolution image for that so it really isn't a fair test of what the software is capable of. I have a lot of faith that it would work quite a bit of magic into the original RAW file.

Didn't really know where to post these pics. Didn't really think I should create a new thread. Thought these were impressive.
I saw these lenses while I was in Thailand and surprising enough in a huge shopping centre. I only had my point and shoot when I took these photos

Didn't realise how light the shell of the EOS 1D body was.

^ To each his own, but I think that photo is brilliant. Who wants to see boring, frozen smoke?

Im talking about Dr_q's noise filtering program, not aloks photo.

@Epp_b, yes.

@Harlequin, that's such an interesting environment. I really need some cammo lenses-they'd go oh so well with my fluffy pink slippers and my half poodle dog. :~)

Pretty mediocre... I need to get out more, and I need a tripod...

Good news is, snow is gone. :happy:

Maybe I should clean my light.

epp_b: My mom has that bowl!

An attempt at making a very boring object exciting.

Now 2 photos, because while taking the first one (the flower) I noticed the second out of the corner of my eye and thought "Damn, that's random"
